Having all that fun and laughter while you work!! Well, that is something I will never experience. I guess you could say being an actor is like living in a whole different world......

Great story Aitch!  When watching that particular episode of "The Persuaders" it always struck me that everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time making it. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

On a different note, even with all that fun I am sure having to "memorize" lines is not a easy task....I would have a bad time with that and remember when I had a bit part in a middle school play, I think I had about 6 lines and forgot the last two when it was my turn, LOL

Ed, it happens to the best of folk.....

The Spy Who Loved me.....
On another scene before the one I was to be in some of the boys got a bit to close to some of the big bangs and got a few mild burns.
So this old boy got a good idea.
I said to the smallest of my mates ''Look if you pretend to be wounded I'll carry you down the stairs and it'll look good on camera''
He agreed but my real motive was to wrap him around my face and neck in case it got to hot.

(I'm not as silly as I look  :smt018 )

Good thinking Aitch! :smt003

Speaking of burns, Roger got quite a nasty one in a very embarassing part of his anatomy, while filming a scene with Curt Jurgens didn't he?
Did you get to hear about it while you were working at the studios?

Was that the time when Roger whipped his wallet out too quick in the Pinewood bar to buy us all a drink, ?? :smt003  :smt003  :smt003

Aitch,

LOL, I hear Roger was very good at holding his booze. Speaking of, the other day we were jokingly talking about people that would be fun to have at a party, and Roger was one of our top choices.  :smt045  :smt040

In all the shows that I worked with Roger I never saw him have a drink.
(Tony was the same)
I remember once when we were filming in a country village and lunch was called I headed with some of the crew to the pub.
It was a hot day and Tony said could he come with us.
Now on a hot day I like to drink a cold pint of cider and Tony said, ''What's cider made of''? I said ''Apples'' so Tony thought ''Apple juice''
He said ''I just have a small glass'' (no pints for him) :smt003
After he took a sip he turned to me and said ''Apple juice ???, I think I'll have lunch instead''  :smt003  :smt003

Was it true though that whenever Brett and Danny were seen drinking champagne, it was actually the real thing and not just a prop?

Good question amber, sometimes you wonder if these big stars really do get to drink the real stuff during the filming!  Maybe Harry knows for sure...

I can imagine one can get pretty tipsy drinking the real stuff. Bubbly apple cider or bubbly grape juice which looks like Champagne would be more suitable, but it would make me sick drinking that stuff if I had to do several takes, lol.   :smt030

I can imagine, Roger and Tony knew when it was time and place to drink heavy stuff and when it was time not to because they were on the job.  :smt023 Roger's bio said that during the filming of The Wild Geese, the producers had a time keeping Richard Harris and Richard Burton away from the bottle  :smt018 , but the very same story also mentioned that Roger knew how to handle these things compared to the others in the same movie.

I do remember Tony bringing on bottles of Champagne onto the set when his then wife ??? had a baby boy. (Only for him to die many years later.)

RIP. :smt010

What a wonderful gesture, I bet your wife was thrilled!

Such a tragedy  that  Tony's son died the way he did.

Going back to Roger, which other Bond movies did you appear in?

Aitch, I love your site with  the photos and background info about all the people you've met over the course of your career.

Have you ever written a book on the subject, and if not do you ever plan to? :smt001
