Bond movies continue...

Postby Sunny on Wed Aug 16, 2006 1:51 pm

This is sort of a partially related to Roger subject, mainly about Bond in general. There's been several actors over several decades who have portrayed James Bond, and one would expect that by now the movies would have gotten old and the franchise would finally put a cap on it. Yet now there's a new Bond movie in the making starring an actor who, IMHO, doesn't have the personality or the looks to pull it off as successfully as Connery, Roger and even Pierce Brosnan have done it prior to now. ( :smt012 )

What do you make of all this?

When Daniel Craig was chosen to play Bond I wasn't very impressed by him. He didn't  seem to have that "certain something"  that was needed to play Bond.  The press had a field day pulling him to bits. Roger sprung to his defence, and stated that Daniel should be  left alone, and given a chance to see what he can do.

The new movie is due out later this year, and the producers seem very pleased with everything so far. So much so,  that they announced this week Daniel was going to be in the next Bond movie too.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Crew Of James Bond New Flick Says Plane Is Haunted

August 16, 2006 10:25 a.m. EST

Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent
London, England (AHN) - Several crew members of the latest "James Bond" movie "Casino Royale" have refused to go inside a stunt jumbo jet because they claim it is haunted.

According to crew members working on the set, the spirit of a passenger who died of a heart attack on board the 30-year-old 747 airplane, is protecting the air craft.

David McAllister, spokesman for the movie admits they were having problem shooting the film because of the crew's refusal to work inside the $3.8 million plane.

He said, "I cannot discuss the film but I am aware of the plane being haunted. Everyone knows the story."

Some crewmen claim the lights and warning systems of the plane suddenly came on during the shooting of the film, even though the jet has no power.

Some even say they saw the woman's ghost gliding up and down the aisles of the aircraft.

One worker interviewed by The Sun said, "We were asked to stay on it overnight for one scene, but several of the crew refused. Some won't get on board at all because of the ghost. It's been a real problem."

The plane is kept at Dunsfold Aerodrome at Cranleigh, Surrey in England.

Spooky story!

The James Bond stage burned down again, not long ago, while "Casino Royale" was in production there.

Once this new Bond movie is out, perhaps people will stop bashing Roger. This new guy has ....like ...zero personality.

Whats' up with them giving the movie "Casino Royale" (&^%? Isn't there already a movie from the 60's by that name starring David Niven? Weird!

Yes, the original "Casino Royale" was on tv not so long ago. It was a spoof  and had several different James Bonds, including Woody Allen. Some of it was funny, but most of the time it was way over the top. Wonder why they decided to do a re-make? Though the new  one surely won't be anything like the original???

Here's more on the upcoming movie, mainly about the music. I'm no expert of some of the today's music, but even though I don't like the group Garbage who sang the (&^% to one of Brosnan's Bonds, I thought the song suited the movie. Never heard of this singer before, have you?

Chris Cornell to Sing Casino Royale (&^% Song
August 17, 2006

Email to a friend Chris Cornell, the singer and songwriter behind the bands Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, has been chosen to perform the (&^% song "You Know My Name" for the upcoming James Bond flick, Casino Royale.

Casino Royale is the 21st Bond movie but the first for the latest 007, Daniel Craig. The film is being directed by Martin Campbell, and Cornell will collaborate with Bond composer David Arnold to write and produce the (&^% song for the film.

Casino Royale will be released worldwide by Columbia Pictures on November 17, 2006. Cornell is an acclaimed singer and songwriter. His upcoming Audioslave release will be the 11th album of his career but being chosen to sing the (&^% song for Casino Royale may be  what many will remember him for.

Cornell joins distinguished performers like Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Paul McCartney & Wings, Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran and Garbage in the list of artists who have performed (&^% songs for James Bond movie adventures.

Although Cornell will grab the attention of the audience from the opening credits, the real star of the show is sure to be Daniel Craig. Touted as bring a 'dark edginess' to James Bond, the early word has Craig as a possible all-time favourite Bond, and Casino Royale hasn't even been released yet!

Casino Royale is based on the first book by Ian Fleming. The story has not been told on film until now, and it follows Bond in his first few missions as a 007 agent. Bond's first mission leads him to Le Chiffre, banker to the world's terrorists. In order to stop Le Chiffre and bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat him in a high-stakes Texas Hold'em poker game at Casino Royale. The new Bond girl (Eva Green) makes her appearance at Casino Royale, delivering Bond's poker stake and tasked with watching over the government's money. Romance is sure to ensue!

That explains the name. I think its confusing to have two movies by the same name. Im used to Casino Royale being an old comedy classic.

Call me picky, but isnt the new actor too 'long in the tooth' to play James Bond on his first mission?

More news on the subject. Soooo, the new movie is due to be released this coming November, 2006. Anyone is going to see it? I think I might, just out of curiosity.

Daniel Craig will star in two new James Bond films Back to Showbiz & Slap Dash

Craig gets less than Brosnan
for same role Daniel Craig will star in two new James Bond films.

The 38-year-old actor has agreed to reprise his role as the suave spy but is being paid far less than his predecessor Pierce Brosnan, it has been reported.

A source told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Daniel is very much a poor man's 007. He's facing an uphill battle to win over Bond fans before 'Casino Royale' is even released, and it looks like producers got him slightly on the cheap.

"For a role like this you would actually expect him to get a lot more."

Craig will receive £1.5 million for his first outing as the secret agent this November. The next film, set to be released in 2008, will see the actor bank £3 million. For his third appearance as Bond, Craig will pick up between £4 million and £4.5 million.

Brosnan reportedly lost the role when he demanded £22 million to appear in 'Casino Royale'.

A spokesman for Craig said: "Daniel is very happy with the arrangements."

Meanwhile, Craig is terrified that James Bond fans will hate him.

He recently said: "They hate me. They don't think I'm right for the role. It 's as simple as that. They're passionate about it, which I understand, but I do wish they'd reserve judgment."

Naturally, critics would jump all over RM for stating that it doesn't require acting talent to play Bond. And he says that despite his support of Daniel Craig, he doesn't plan to see the movie, which doesn't surprise me since he already said many times in interviews that he wasn't interested in seeing any of Brosnan's or Dalton's Bond movies either. Can't say I blame him. I can imagine Roger is pretty tired of Bond after playing him for so many years.  :smt001

What do you think of this article and what Roger said?

Roger Moore: 'Bond Doesn't Require Good Acting'
By WENN| Monday, November 06, 2006
HOLLYWOOD - Former James Bond star Roger Moore insists it doesn't take a "good actor" to play the world's most famous secret agent.
Moore--who played the suave superspy in the early 1980s--insists criticism of the decision to cast Daniel Craig as 007 was harsh, because the role doesn't require much talent.

He says, "I am a great defender of Daniel Craig. He's a good actor. People have been so beastly; he's not even had a chance.

"Not that you have to be a good actor... you just have to be able to say, 'My name's Bond, James Bond.'

But despite offering his support to Craig, the 79-year-old actor isn't looking forward to Casino Royale's cinema release later this month.

He says, "The other thing that happens when a new Bond film opens is that I get bad reviews.

"The critics say, 'Thank God, he--whoever he is--wasn't like Roger Moore.'"

Roger was interviewed at the time that Pierce Brosnon's first  Bond was due to be released. When asked if he would be going to see it he replied that he wouldn't. The reason he gave was that - if the movie was bad, and was  then asked for his opinion, he could say in all honesty that he couldn't comment. Very diplomatic!

As for Roger saying that the role doesn't require much acting talent, well I think it is mainly down to personality. He certainly had plenty of that going for him when he played Bond.

A friend went to see the newest Bond, and while he is usually into this kind of movies and really likes any Bond film, he said he was disappointed. He said that the movie was just like any other action-adventure, not much of it was truly done in Bond spirit, except the name and that Bond was wearing a tux. Other than that, he kept looking for some kind of a gadget or other Bond-related stuff, and there wasn't any of it.

I haven't seen the movie myself, but read that many of those who support the less tech serious Bond, think this is the best 007 movie ever made.  :smt017

It's done great at the box-office, and I understand that Daniel Craig has signed to do a few more Bonds.

I haven't seen "Casino Royale" just a few excerpts from tv shows, but it does seem to go overboard on sadistic violence, from what I've seen and heard, and so very far removed from the days when Roger was Bond. I know that times and tastes change, but this movie is not for me.
