Roger not retiring!

Postby Amber on Mon Jul 23, 2007 3:52 pm

This article appeared today in some newspapers:

"Speculations about Moore's retirement were prompted by his absence from movie circles for the last five years.

Sir Roger, however, said that he is willing to get back to films if someone comes up with a good script and a lucrative deal

"I'm not retired yet. If someone offers me a decent script with a nice schedule and a bit of dosh (money) to sweeten the deal, then I'm for hire," ontactmusic quoted the actor, as saying.

Of late, the 80-year-old legend has been seen in TV mini series and his recently acclaimed role in The Quest.

The British actor also made an appearance in an episode of the American TV series Alias in 2002."

For starters, he's not 80 till October THIS year, and secondly I hate the way the newspapers pre-empt an actors activities just because he has spent so many years doing something for the plight of the poor which is much more beneficial for human kind than just acting. :smt011

I mean don't get me wrong, I love Sir Roger as an actor, but if he can do so much more by doing these things for UNICEF then more power to him. :smt001

I'm a big fan of  "Harry Potter" the movies and the books, and when Richard Harris died after playing the wise wizard and headmaster of Hogwarts school,  Dumbledore,  I thought Roger would be ideal to take over. Michael Gambon is ok,  but  Roger would have been perfect, and so much better.

In this interview he didn't say retired, just "sort of burried"

Let us hope someone offers him a good part soon!

Plantagenet, many thanks for posting this interview.  :smt007 I loved it, very enjoyable, and didn't Roger look fantastic dressed all in white? He looks like he's in great shape  for his age, and  like you hope that a wonderful movie role comes along for him too.

Roger has already teamed up with Michael Caine when they made the movie "Bullseye" several years ago.  It would be great if all  three of the actors could star together in one production, but somehow I can't see it happening.

You never know, Connie, they might just do it. BTW, I didn't know SC was in self imposed retirement. Plenty more time for his golf then haha.

Many thanks Plantagenet!

I love the pics of Roger. They were taken in Monaco and  the article was to promote the fact that Germany is going to screen episodes of "The Saint" and "The Persuaders" in September. For those lucky enough to live in Germany, a short  tv interview will be shown beforehand.

Is my German so good that I could translate?  :smt002  No way! I just happened to see a reference to the article in a UK newspaper today. Only a couple of pics were shown, not as many as the ones Plantagent posted here, so thanks again. :smt007

This is an interview from 1993, it lasts 42 minutes. Click on "video" under the photo. You might have to try several times and it takes a while. The journalist asks pretty much the usual questions but an interview with Roger Moore is always enjoyable!

Does anyone know if you can save this and the german one on your PC. I would love to know. Thanks

Hi Plantagenet

I think you can (cos I have from another website), all you do is right click on the link and where it says 'add to favourites' you click on that. With the ones I have of Sir Rog, I also rename them so I know what the interview is about, for instance RM Blue Plaque speech etc. :smt003

Hi Goodnight

Thank you for your reply.

I've tried this before but it you're offline or if they remove it from the internet you can't play it anymore. Last year there was a videoreport of Sir Roger in Budapest online. I watched it quiet often but after a couple of months they removed it and now I only see it in my dreams. :smt010  :smt010  :smt010

So I wonder if it is possible to really save it on your PC so you can watch it over and over and over again. :smt002

Hi Plantagenet,
I absolutely adored the interview you posted, and many thanks for doing so. :smt007

Roger had a wonderful rapport with the lady interviewer. She asked some very searching and intelligent questions, and Roger gave excellent responses to them.

I have no idea how to save  it permanently. I don't know, but could it be copied onto a disc??? :smt017

Hi Plantagenet

Firstly, I have just finished watching that Finnish interview (all 42 minutes of it)that you posted and it's great, thanks. Thought the interviewer could have thought up more questions to do with UNICEF, but never mind, it was great anyway.

Secondly, I know if you save it to favourites and they take it off the site you cannot watch it again,  but I have a few interviews in my favourites that I am going to put on a disc eventually,so it should work if you do that. I haven't done it before, but it should work. I am not sure whether you are ALLOWED to because of copyright or whatever (shhhhh), but when I start to do and and if it works, I will let you know. :smt006
