Thanks for all this info, Amber. Good to know. RM himself could play himself haha. Don't think he'd agree to it though.

Here in Australia at lunchtime today, they aired Boat Trip on tv. Good to watch it again and of course they chopped it to bits, but it was still good to watch it. :smt003

I saw it on DVD last weekend for 5 bucks at WalMart but didnt buy it. I would have probably liked it much better chopped up on TV , but I rented the original uncut "unrated" version from Blockbuster a few weeks ago, and was disappointed.

Speaking of autobiographies, Sean Connery and Tony Curtis will be bringing out theirs around October too, just like Roger.

Apparantly the Tony Curtis book will be a no holds barred one. :smt037

Sean Connery is always keeping up with Roger, whether it is with awards or Bond movies or books. The two guys always say they are not in any competition with each other, so does this mean it's a coincidence? :smt002 :smt017 :smt016

I won't be buying the Sean Connery or Tony Curtis autobiographies, but I'd love to know if they mention Roger and if so, what they say. I'll see if my local library get copies in.

Playing Bond Could Be Scary

Roger Moore, who starred in seven Bond films in the 1970s and 1980s, recounts his days as the dashing super-spy in his upcoming memoir, "My Word Is My Bond," and says things weren't always as they seemed.

"Jimmy Bond had a big jet boat chase in `Live and Let Die,'" writes Moore, now 80. "I did quite a few run-throughs to practice and whilst banking on one such run, the engine cut out. I had no steering! I therefore continued in a straight line ... directly into a wooden boat house."
He instantly catapulted from the boat into a wall, cracking his front teeth and twisting his knee.
"There I was, as a fearless 007, hobbling on a cane to my boat and then pretending to be indestructible for the cameras. Who says I can't act?"

Moore replaced Sean Connery in the 007 franchise in 1973. His films include "The Spy Who Loved Me," "Live and Let Die," "The Man With the Golden Gun" and "A View to a Kill."

The book, due out Nov. 4, also recounts the time Moore bumped into a young Steven Spielberg at a Paris hotel.
"He was a huge Bond fan and said that he would love to direct one of the films," Moore says. "He'd recently had great success with `Jaws' and `Close Encounters' and was considered a very hot property. I was rather excited at this news and went looking for (film producer Albert R. `Cubby' Broccoli) to tell him."
But Broccoli, who steered the Bond franchise over three decades, shook his head and asked, "Do you know how much of a percentage he'd want?"

"It's always been policy that no Bond director ever got a slice of the box office profits," Moore says. "So, Spielberg went off and made `Indiana Jones' who I reckon to be a period James Bond!"

I've just received a message from a Google news group that I belong to, that there is a special edition of Roger's autobiograpy available, numbers 1 - 1000, which will be autographed by the great man himself. The hard backed book also comes in a slip cover. If you want more info and wish to order a copy, go to:

Look under the heading "Special Editions." They deliver worldwide.

Well, I've almost read Roger's book and it is hugely enjoyable with many very funny anecdotes, as he writes about his very varied acting career. He speaks about his family and how he has found his soul mate in Kristina. We were discussing his son Christian a while ago here, and how he looks like an ideal Simon Templar. In the book Roger informs us that he is now a property developer. The book has some wonderful pics, a pic of Roger with Christian and his young daughter, as well as a pic of his other two grand daughters with their parents Geoffrey and Loulou, and Christian when he was very young.

In fact there is so much information to take in, that I need to read it again. I'm sorry that I have almost come to the end.

An interesting snippet that has featured in several newspaper short articles - it seems that Sir Sean Connery's autobiography is not selling well and that it looks like he will "suffer the indignity" of Roger's book outselling his!

If you go onto Amazon.co.uk and type Roger Moore, book details will come up on screen. If you scroll down, there is a link to watch Roger speaking about his book for a couple of minutes. He says right at the end "If you don't enjoy it, don't tell anybody." :smt003 No fear of that happening Sir Roger. :smt007

Here's a report and pics of Roger doing a book signing at "Borders"a store in Oxford. According to the article the event was extremely successful. read on:

Bond legend Sir Roger Moore was shaken, but not stirred yesterday as he signed copies of his new autobiography in Oxford.
The veteran actor and Unicef ambassador spent more than an hour posing for photographs and signing hundreds of copies of My Word Is My Bond in Borders, Magdalen Street.
I absolutely love Oxford — we came on the right day, the sun is shining and all the colleges look great'
Sir Roger Moore
Staff at the store were forced to turn people away when the queue began to snake too far down the street.
But nearly 300 fans still managed to get their hands on the new book and meet their hero.
Accompanied by wife Kristina Tholstrup, Sir Roger arrived at the book shop shortly after midday dressed in a smart blazer and red and silver tie.
Following a few press interviews downstairs, he hopped on the escalator and emerged on the ground floor to the soundtrack of cameras clicking and Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better — the theme song to The Spy Who Loved Me (1977).
Sir Roger, 80, told the Oxford Mail: "I absolutely love Oxford.
"We came on the right day — the sun is shining and all the colleges look great. There's a little bit of roadworks, but not too much."
The star of seven Bond films said he had never filmed in Oxford before but always enjoyed visiting.
Borders manager Ed Meek said the book signing had been one of the most popular he could remember.
He said: "It's certainly been one of the biggest. The amount of buzz and excitement it's caused has been unbelievable.
"There are roughly 300 people in the queue, which — apart from Harry Potter — is the biggest.
"Sir Roger has been fantastic. He could not have been more helpful. He has been happy to have photos taken with staff and members of the public.
"For a lunchtime signing, it's incredible to have to turn people away."
Gary Clark, 28, from Swindon, was the first to have his book signed after arriving at the book shop at 8.30am.
He said: "I'm a big James Bond fan and Roger Moore is a legend in the film industry.
"I'm looking forward to meeting him — it's not a chance you get very often."
Sir Roger said he was looking forward to seeing Quantum Of Solace next month and that he had very much enjoyed Casino Royale, Daniel Craig's first Bond.
He said: "I bought it on DVD. I was absolutely knocked out. Daniel was just terrific."
