£43k For Sir Roger's Cruiser
By Lachlan Mackinnon
JAMES Bond legend Sir Roger Moore is flogging his luxury speedboat on eBay.
The actor has put the 41ft Sunseeker Tomahawk up for grabs at offers over £43,000.
Sir Roger - who shot to fame in hit Sixties show The Saint - bought the vessel 10 years ago.
It is "moored" at Port de Cap d'Ail in the south of France.
The port borders the millionaires' playground of Monaco, where Sir Roger has an apartment.
It is understood the advert for the cruiser was placed by a friend at the Pinewood Studios-based Lunch Club in London.
The blurb says: "It is owned by Sir Roger Moore.
"He is selling after a very happy 10 years as he is unable to spend the time he would like with his boat.
"Both engines were replaced in 2005 - twin CMDE Mercruiser Diesel 4.2ES, 250hp each with Mercruiser Bravo One sterndrive.
"The boat is in very good condition and ready to use.
"Viewers are welcome and will be shown the boat by the local offshore services company (not Sir Roger Moore), but only serious buyers will be entertained."
Sir Roger, who turns 80 next month, once told how he and fourth wife Kristina Tholstrup enjoyed long sunny days relaxing on the cruiser. He said: "We have a good boat, a 41ft Sunseeker. Kristina ties the fenders off. She is my crew.
"We keep it in the next port round from the main harbour and go out every day somewhere like Villefranche or Cap d'Ail and swim.
"We have lunch, then a kip down below. Then we come up for a swim and go home."
The couple live mainly in Geneva, where Sir Roger keeps fit by pole-walking. He said: "I am my wife's dog. She takes me for long walks.
"Walking with poles makes you swing your arms to your shoulders, which is good for the heart."
The UNICEF goodwill ambassador has been hit by health problems, including a near-fatal dose of double pneumonia as a boy and prostate cancer in 1993.
Four years ago, he collapsed on stage in New York while doing a song-and-dance routine in drag.
This article is from "The Glasgow Record" newspaper, Glasgow, Scotland.
I noticed they made an error - Roger and Kristina live in Crans Montana in Switzerland, and not Geneva. Mm.... think I'll take a look over on e-bay.
