Lunch With Roger For Charity

Postby Amber on Thu Nov 15, 2007 3:22 pm

There are some things money can't buy - but lunch with Terry Wogan isn't one of them. During the BBC Radio 2 Auction Of Things That Money Can't Buy for BBC Children in Need one listener bid £75,000 for a date with Sir Terry and Roger Moore.

The Radio 2 breakfast presenter described this as "the most amazing, the most wonderful day I've ever had on radio."

Last year's auction raised £512,450 for Children in Need but the cumulative total for 2007 is already at £649,000, and there are still five more items up for grabs including an exclusive Doctor Who experience and the opportunity to see Led Zeppelin perform at the O2 Arena in London on and watch them in rehearsal the day before.

This year's BBC Children in Need Appeal is on Friday 16 November

Simply Moore is run by "Freepowerboards" meaning that the site is free. For that reason, they advertise whenever they want to.

I think it's just one of those things we have to put up with, in return for a much more secure site than before, where we saw the original   "Simply Moore"  crash because of  hackers and mischief makers, due to the fact it  was easily accessed.

So if much better security means there are going to be ads on the site, that's something that is well worth it.

Whatever. It is just a shame that anyone can advertise here because sooner or later the same thing might happen again (site crashing)due to some idiot posting bad stuff. :smt012

The ads don't bother me in the slightest. It only takes a moment to scroll past them. :smt002

Regarding the site crashing, as happened to the original "Simply Moore." Lessons have been learnt, and stringent measures are now in place to prevent that happening again. Freepowerboards do regular safety checks and updates, so hopefully Simply Moore will be here as long as I am able to be here too.

I've been a fan of Roger's for 46 years, and I aint giving up just yet. :smt007

There's nothing wrong or obscene about the ads. I am sure powerboards have rules about who can advertise with them and who cant. The ads  dont change the information you gets from the posts. If they keep the forum going free of charge, then so be it. I dont post often but come to read the news and look at pictures and the ads never bother me at all. :smt004
