How did LCharteris come up with the name 'the Saint'? Does anybody know?............. Thanks. :smt001

Wasn't it something to do with his initials - Simon Templar?

I think he picked the name because of the order of the Knights Templar, who protected pilgrims on there way to the holy land. The romantic image of knights in armour doing battle fitted in well with the ethos of the Saint.

I always loved Simon's expression: "Ways of the ungodly are usually predictable." (Hence my signature :smt002 ) That and the way the Saint always seemed to be protected by the higher power, always gave me the impression that he was on a sort of a mission from God to protect the poor and the innocent using as little violence as he could. :smt017

I can't find the exact quote but Templar was because of the Knights Templar and Simon was inspired by "Simple Simon" and the fact that the Saint very obviously wasn't simple...

And yes, Saint came from his initials plus his most unsaintly way of doing things.
