"Boat Trip"

Have you seen this movie? If you have, what did you think of it? This is one  that I have never got around to seeing. I saw excerpts of it on tv, but it just didn't appeal to me, which is a first for me!

I've seen it and hated it. The idea was funny and this could have been a good movie, had the writers bothered to write it well. Some parts were just plain gross and in bad taste. Yes, that's what I'd call the whole movie-done in bad taste. :smt078 One scene in particular comes to mind, with Cuba Gooding Jr, the girl and the banana, and the extention of the scene with Roger's character and some guy hes flirting with on the ship's deck.

Boat trip

Postby Goodnight007.2 on Wed Apr 30, 2008 11:46 pm

I bought the dvd of this movie in America when I was there on holiday a few years ago, because I couldn't find it here. I didn't realise when I bought it that it was the uncut version  :smt022 but never mind.

I must admit the first time I watched it I thought it was tasteless and pointless and how could Sir Roger wish to be associated with this movie. But even though I still think it is a poor movie, I think it was made a little better by Sir Roger's participation. I must admit though it is not one of his best. Also it seems that that Horatio guy got all the best lines. :smt012

I saw this movie a long time ago and only remember some of it. Horatio Sanz was one of Saturday Night Live actors who left the show to make movies, the way many of SNL actors do after getting their start in SNL.
SNL can get tasteless at times, so his participation in Boat Trip didn't surprise me. But Roger didn't fit in that movie.

In general, I adore movies and shows about tropical islands and cruises, and was very close to adding Boat Trip to my collection which includes Out To Sea, The Love Boat, Gilligan's Island and Elvis' Blue Howaii, to name a few.  :smt028  :smt035  :smt030 But I don't think I will be buying this one. Sad, because as Kendall mentioned above, this had all the makings of a good movie, but it was  ruined by bad writing.

Goodnight, you are right, Roger's appearance in Boat Trip made it better, until the very end where he decided to use some heavy bad language, which I thought was out of character for him.  :smt102

I saw this dvd a few months ago at a local flea market, but I resisted buying it. After all I'd read about it when it first came out, I feared it would kind of shatter my illusions about Roger. I wonder why he would make a movie like that? I prefer to see him in his other excellent movies he made instead.

I wondered about the reasoning behind his appearance in The Spice Movie, more than I did about this one. But luckily in the Spice Movie he made it watchable, but only just.

The only reason for making these movies that makes sense is money.  :smt102
