According to an article from "The Daily Express" dated July 3rd :

Four decades after he last played his famous alter ego The Saint, Sir Roger Moore has revealed he will star in a re-make of the show. The former James Bond star, who played gentleman thief Simon Templar in the hit tv series from 1962 to 1969, is set to make a "guest" appearance in a new tv film version, which will see "Rome" star James Purefoy taking on the lead role.

Sir Roger is remaining tight lipped about the role he will play, however he adds"It's all going to start in September in Toronto. I shall have a small part."

Back in May last year he described rumours of an appearance as unfounded.

I dont' know this actor, James Purefoy - but it's very difficoult come after a Myth

Nobody dos it Better - Simon Templar - than Roger.

I don't think this man can give justice to the character - Simon Templar have a particular charm and personality

I heared that the rumours says that Roger - would make a cameo apparence in this new series - but you Amber - seems to say NO. Is just a rumour ?

Yes Raffaela, according to the article I wrote about at the top of the page, Roger is going to appear in the new "The Saint." I wonder what his part will be like? I can't wait.

No one will ever replace Roger as The Saint. He WAS Simon Templar. The new series is just the way to keep the character alive for the newest generation. But I am glad to hear that he will make an appearance in the new show.

I read some news today in the "Daily Express" about the forthcoming production of "The Saint." James Purefoy who was to have played Simon Templar has had to pull out because of other work commitments. This is a great shame because I believe James would have been a wonderful Simon Templar. I wonder what will happen now?

Today in "The Daily Express" there are new developments about the forthcoming "Saint" production.

"He narrowly missed out on playing James Bond, but now Dougray Scott is set to follow in former 007 agent Sir Roger Moore's footsteps after landing the lead in "The Saint" we hear. The 43 year old Scottish actor, who has been one of the leading contenders to succeed Pierce Brosnan as Bond before Daniel Craig clinched it, is set to begin filming a pilot episode in Canada later this autumn.

There has been long speculation about who would play gentleman thief Simon Templar in the remake of TV series "The Saint." It was originally offered to James Purefoy but he had to pull out.

Sir Roger recently teased fans by saying "James Purefoy isn't ''The Saint', as his availability changed I'm afraid but they do have a rather excellent actor signed up. Not sure I'm allowed to say just yet but his initials are DS."

Despite Sir Roger's comments it seems that Dougray might not yet have signed on the dotted line. An industry insider says he is in "ongoing negotiations" but "close to agreement." "It will be a real coup to get Dougray" he says. "He's perfect for the role."

Interesting. Watch this space.
