Teamhog, I think i will need your help on this one.  John said you put one of these on your buggy.  When I took it out of the box I was surprised to see how different this carb is and I have no idea how to set it up

1) How do you hook up a throttle cable?
2) How does this type of choke operate?
3) Do I need to increase the size of the fuel line and filter?

If you have some pics of your setup it might help me a lot.

Yes, I've got one on my buggy but Mark (guy48065) put it on there before I bought it.  He'd be a better source for troubleshooting.  I can however take some pictures of what mine looks like installed.

I just got  some info from mark and it's a little more diffcult then I thought.  He also said he got mixed results but overall they work well.

I left a message with Tom (KidnMe) about the other carb he has. I might try that one if it is closer to a stock carb.  I don't want to risk installing the carb because I won't beable  to return a used carb.

I am still interested is seeing how it looks hooked up,  It never hurts to try and learn new tricks.

krusekontrol, this carb. is different than the stock one on the buggy now in a few different ways.  First, it has a round slide instead of a buttery fly valve (it rotates instead of sliding). Second, it has no auto choke, you have to move that choke lever for every cold start, unless you make yourself up a bracket and use a heavy duty old style car choke cable.  To hook this carb. up its really not that difficult.  You need to get either a new throttle cable or hack the one you have now by either adding a ball end to it or attaching another throttle cable to it.  I think you may also need to redo your flange and intake piece, not sure without pictures of your current intake and carb. setup.  This carb. looks identical to the mikuni VM series.  If you decide to roll with this carb., getting rid of the auto choke and the buttery fly valve you will notice a difference.  My carter (now the wifes) has the old carb. on it still, and the idle constantly changes itself and sometimes surges.  I would do a carb. swap on it but it suits her just fine and I got bigger things in the works lol.  Drop me a line if you (A) need help installing it or (B) motivation to install it.

Sorry, didn't notice your other questions at the end of the page.  You should still be able to use the stock fuel filter and line, as long as it fits onto the brass nipple on the new carb.  The choke operates as a lever, it opens and closes a separate section inside the carb. to cut off airflow and increase gas flow.  I just picked up a mikuni 34mm carb. for my snowmobile engine, exact same setup.  I however, can use my existing throttle cable.  For a throttle cable, you could research the carb. a little bit and find out what atv vehicle may have used it and just by a brand new throttle cable.  OR, some atv shops can make you a cable because they have a lead mold and can mold a lead ball onto the end of your existing cable.

Well I got rid of the cold feet thingy and i am going to install the carb.  I.ve gone through all the threads I could find about the carb and the mods I will have to do. I just got word from Blister about the spacer he use to make. And i should have no problem making one.  I already setup a temp cable using a de-railer cable from a 10speed bike. The ball on the end is almost perfect for a snug fit.  Once I make the spacer It should take about an hour or 2 to finish up the rest.  Then I can start gutting the pipe and send in an order for the sliders and new spring.

I'll keep you guys posted.
