Death Note is a really popular anime right now in the west. When I went to Otakon this year I saw so many Death Note cosplayers. After seeing the whole series and one of the live action movies that goes along with it. I'd have to say L is my favorite character. Mostly for his gestures and idiosyncrasies.
Ahh, Death Note. Like I mentioned in your other thread, I read manga because of the art, and way back when, Takeshi Obata was my god, ahah! Hell, even my Runescape account is Hikaru1288, after her first manga, Hikaru no Go. This was before she had even released Death Note though. Anyway, yeah, I noticed a big change in her art when she released Death Note. Personally, Death Note is drawn better while Hikaru no Go has a better plotline. _________________ NU-MOD
Death Note did have an interesting plot device in which you could write someones name in a book and kill them. I mean the idea that Light wanted to make the world better though good in theory involved him having to do a lot of morally questionable things. Which ultimately lead to him being the anti hero of the story.
Despite being drawn by the same person, Hikaru no Go and Death Note could not be further apart. Whilst Death Note is darker and more evil and all that jazz, Hikaru no Go is a lot more innocent and tame. Hikaru no Go is about this kid who finds a bloody Go board in his grandparents attic which has the spirit of an old Go player named Sai attached to it. Sai is extremely lighthearted, silly and very feminine. Sai sort of ''haunts'' Hikaru, acts as a teacher to help him play the board game called Go, etc, and all the fun stuffsies they encounter along the way.
Of course that's a very lose description. It's a story that most people wouldn't have the attentionspan for since it's very nerdy and bases itself off a game most people won't understand. Still, I love it very much when I was like 9/10/11. _________________ NU-MOD
Yeah, like I said, most people wouldn't like it because it's so different from Death Note. I really like it, it was my favourite manga for a while when I was younger. I guess I was just a really nerdy kid with a lot of spare time on my hands so I guess that's why I liked the plot And, like I said, Takeshi Obata was my gawd so ahah. _________________ NU-MOD
