I love this sub-genre. There are a large amount of bands here that I could not live without.
So this thread is for a discussion about why you like symphonic black metal, what your favroite bands are, and how you got into it.
For me, my interest in symph BM started with Dimmu Borgir (booo) and due to my then-infactuation with them, I agressively sought out other bands that played in a similar style. I listened to bands such as Ceremonial Castings, Limbonic Art, Vesania, Fanisk and much others.
Thus, it became my favroite type of black metal. _________________ The ravening black worms of madness are devouring the shredded remnants of sanity as I return to my slumbering steel-clad body...but as the dream-veil lifts, I feel my limbs transform, flesh becoming cold stone...

Symphonic Black is pretty cool. I actually like Dimmu Borgir a lot. Theatres des Vampires (early) and Enslavement of Beauty is pretty good Symphonic Black Metal bands as well.
Symphonic BM is quite good. Trail of Tears, one of my top favourite bands, plays this style of music (along with gothic metal elements). I need moar. _________________ I just want to eat your brains.
In the poll, I voted "No". I don't usually like anything that's too symphonic. But there are exeptions. Like Summoning, Limbonic Art. _________________ *also known as whoisthat at ML*

The only symphonic black metal album I have is Anorexia Nervosa's "Drudenhaus", and it's awesome. I'm skeptical to delve further into this sub-genre, so I'll stick to that one album until my interest peaks. _________________ Error #139003B: No signature detected. Abort | Retry | Fail

I voted yeas. i'm not a fan of Dimmu Borgir, don't even know them too much but I like bands such as Vesanaia, Anorexia Nervosa, Asgaard (well, vocals could be better but the music is great), Catamenia.
