What does everyone here think of NSBM?
I was raised Jewish by my family, so it is kind of parallel to anti-christain music. I like the anti Jewish sentiments that are sometimes expressed within.
And Noktunal Mortum and Fanisk are amazing bands. |

Thought I disagree with some of the things NSBM bands talk about. I do enjoy Satanic Warmaster from time to time. |

I find that the unintelligent lyrics can turn me off, unless the music is incredibly cool, like with Wolfehorde. I've listened to only some of their stuff but I'd buy their shit. I guess it doesn't help much though on the topic of NSBM that 2/3 of the mods here are not white, including myself. But obviously the topic can stay. We're not really racially sensitive to topics like this, but it is why we don't usually appreciate such a genre.

I cannot judge NSBM as a whole because simply the bands that belong to the NSBM scene are not playing the same style of Black Metal. It's not a seperate genre for me. It's a scene. So, it just depends from the band. There are bands that I love (Aryan Art, Fanisk, M8L8TH, Syny Severa) and bands that I don't like (Sons of Satan, Opfer Rassenhass, Der Stürmer). |

NSBM lyrics are just like Satanic lyrics; they're either for shock value (most likely), or in rare cases serious. As stated before, NSBM bands don't all play the same style, so it's hard to judge them as a whole. Some bands, however (Satanic Warmaster, Nokturnal Mortum) are excellent regardless of the dumb lyrics.
Now, Slave Whipping Blasphemy... they're in a similar vein (racism) but are a completely different story. They're beyond bad.
But yeah, racist, Satanic, and NSBM lyrics are usually stupid and one-dimensional, and really don't take much effort to write compared to thoughtful ones.

Haha, but they've gotten such high reviews!
Admittedly I can't say that NSBM bothers me as much as it would others because I'm not Jewish or black, so I just treat like I would any other offspring of a subgenre.
I still like the Suicidal Black Metal better than NSBM. But I guess that's a story for another day.

Yeah, there lyrics are incredibly stupid too. When I first saw their page on MA, I thought that they were a fake band.
Sadly, they are real.

NSBM to me, is just Black Metal with really pointless lyrical themes. Most of those bands are so consumed with hate, they can't even think straight.

Honestly, music before politics. If the band is good, and many NSBM bands ARE good, then I'll listen. The shit bands are shit, but that goes with any black metal.

I'm listening to Kataxu right now, and I highly recommend that you all download Hunger of Elements right away.
It's powerful, epic & symphonic. A great beautiful album.
If it weren't for polish nazi's, I would not have heard this band.
