That's right. The new Metallica album. It's out on September 12 (my birthday, coincidentally).
I've heard bits and pieces of it, including 2 full songs, and I can honestly say that, in my opinion, this album is very good, and will surprise a lot of people that have run away from Metallica for whatever assorted reason they've run away from them for.
Here's "The Day That Never Comes, which will be the first single and will have a video in the not-too-distant-future.
Honestly, I think anyone who thinks it's going to be amazing is full of shit. Everyone's so excited to have a decent 'talica album (which is a myth) that they're willing to call everything that doesn't resemble St. Anger ''good'' - and then, disregarding the actual content of the song. Personally, I think The Day That Never Comes and My Apocalypse are so inspid and mind-numbing, worse than St. Anger or any of the Loads. _________________ NU-MOD

But since it seems like you're not really interested in their music anyway, I'm not really sure what you're getting at. _________________ Through nature's inflexible grace, I'm learning to live.
You don't have to be a fan to criticize something. I tried to get into Metallica. I really tried. But I can't. They're not bad, in a way...but their so damn mediocre. _________________ NU-MOD
Well, they were sort of the building block for a lot, but I've always been of the belief that they are brilliant at their execution. Are they the most talented or the most original? Not by a long shot, no. I do think that they are the best at what they do, though.
And I love how they drive metal heads crazy. _________________ Through nature's inflexible grace, I'm learning to live.
Ehhh... my expectations aren't high, but they were risen up a bit by samples I heard off Metal Archives. _________________ I just want to eat your brains.
My Apocalypse pleasantly surprised me, but the other two songs are really boring. Anyway, I don't think the album will be thrash - but I'll leave this here for now.
After listening to some of the newer songs on Youtube I have to say my interest is peaked some what. The songs were pretty good especially My Apocalypse.
Its already leaked. I listened to it, had a good laugh and listened to it again, and LOL'd again.
Metallica were never good. Kill Em All was fun, but repetitive (hey, thrash had to "begin" somewhere, right?) Ride the Lightning was a huge leap forward but it was downright.... boring. Master of Puppets, And Justice For All and The Black Album were all boring as fuck, and most songs were dragged to the finish line. Load was okay, Reload was decent. St. Anger isn't as bad as some people say, but it stands alongside AJFA as Metallica's most boring album. And this album suffers from the same disease that plagued Metallica in the 80's. The songs are TOO DAMN LONG! MAKING LONGER SONGS DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE MORE PROGRESSIVE, MR. JAMES HEITFELD! _________________ My Facebook, My Youtube, My Last.FM, My Blog
I agree that St. Anger isn't as bad as people say, but HOLY FUCKING JESUS IS IT EVER BAD. It's extremely unpleasant and putrid, and you can just smell the bile it reeks of. The 80s stuff was never perfect, but it was miles better than this.
Death Magnetic however is a good album, with enjoyable songs and a lot of fist-pumping metal energy. Kick ass.
As much as I'd hate to admit it... Death magnetic has some parts which make me go OMG YES!!! Sadly the effect wears off when the song goes on for 6-7 minutes. The "positive" effect is replaced with an effect that is ten times more negative than the positive effect. Its the same curse that plagued Metallica in the 80's. _________________ My Facebook, My Youtube, My Last.FM, My Blog

I'm listening to my apocalypse right now, its pretty good.
James vocals have improved. Drumming still kind of sucks. _________________ The ravening black worms of madness are devouring the shredded remnants of sanity as I return to my slumbering steel-clad body...but as the dream-veil lifts, I feel my limbs transform, flesh becoming cold stone...

Now I have to listen to it....
Yeah, you better. Or else.
It is a bit too long, but unlike Hassan, I think it's way easier to get through than And Justice for All, for instance. I just like how lifelike and peppy the compositions are, just waiting to jump out and rip your throat out.
