Yo my Blackened Folk metal bretheren/home dawgs from the paganlands. I'm a fan of blackened folk, It's hard for me to stand other forms of BM, like Immortal.
So as Blackened Folk bands go some of my favorites would be; Bathory, Falkenbach, Wolves in the Throne Room, Nokturnal Mortum, Kampfar, and more.
So my home dawgs from the paganland what's yours? And can ya' give me any suggestions of new bands n' stuff? Kthxbai _________________ "Your soul is like your appendix, you hardly use it!" - Kelso |

I like Agalloch a lot, nice blacked folk metal, though some would call them doom.
*brags about living in the same city as them*
Windir is also quite good, though I have only listened to Arntor.
I love Nokturnal Mortum and Drudkh so much, those are both amazing bands.
Wolves In The Throne Room is one of my favroite Atmospheric/Folk BM bands right now. I own a copy of Two Hunters and I usually listen to that twice a week.
So, in summery, I recommend Drudkh. Check out their album, Autumn Aurora, and then Blood In Our Wells. _________________ The ravening black worms of madness are devouring the shredded remnants of sanity as I return to my slumbering steel-clad body...but as the dream-veil lifts, I feel my limbs transform, flesh becoming cold stone...

Aye aye.
Agalloch is pretty sweet also. I didn't know they were considered Blackened Folk. I thought they were just Doom/Folk.
And for another band that I enjoy is Summoning. _________________ "Your soul is like your appendix, you hardly use it!" - Kelso |

Windir. Windir. Windir.
I love them so much.
Check out "Sóknardalr" and "1184". All four albums are lovely, though. _________________ *also known as whoisthat at ML*

Well, I my self really like Kampfar and Primordal. I don't really know if you can call the "Blackened" but Finntroll has alot of Black Metal elements. _________________ When night falls, she cloaks the world

Windir are excellent as well. I'm having a hard time which albums I should get. _________________ "Your soul is like your appendix, you hardly use it!" - Kelso |

ALL OF THEM (but the first two are more folky than the last two if memory is correct, I haven't listened to 1184 or Likferd in a long time).
And you probably won't find them anywhere but online. Even Portland's underground-ish record store doesn't carry them.
Instead of talking about all the great blackened folk, does anyone know a shitty blackened folk metal band? I can't think of one. |
