Okay, this is the rec thread for this forum in which I've been offered to moderate. Ask for recs of this great genre here, and be specific or else the admins will eat you. Happy trails!

I recommend Eidolon to all of you, very heavy riff oriented power metal.
Check out any of their albums from 2000 onwards.

I have one album by Eidolon, and it's okay, but the vocals are kind of lame and the riffs are sort of stale. I think I should try the one with Nils K. Rue on vocals, as I hear their other vocalists are even worse than this one. A better band of the style would be Angel Dust who I recommend a lot. Or Tad Morose's Undead, Matters of the Dark and Modus Vivendi. Astounding Power/Traditional Metal. |

Satanic Curses is a real beast of an album. Very catchy and heavy. And the lyrical themes are more or less exactly what I love hearing in Metal. |

Dream Evil's first album is fucking amazing. Not a second of filler in that album. None of the albums they released after it were even half as good. _________________ My Facebook, My Youtube, My Last.FM, My Blog |

Great to see another 'Prophecy fan. I had just recently gotten Savage Souls and there's some great stuff. The only problem is teh 'Prophecy tends to be very repetetive and doesn't really shake things up. Maybe since the two Martin's left there'll be more change in their sound (not for the bad!) _________________ NU-MOD |

I hear Satanic Curses is the darkest and heaviest they've done, which is why I don't think I need to bother with anything they did before it. Should I? |

So, Empyreal, you're the power metal guy 'round these parts I see?
Anyway, for everything Mystic Prophecy and RD related, you've come to the right place! Yeah, Satanic Curses is nice, but like I said, they have a big tendancy to be repetitive. I guess if you pick up two different Mystic Prophecy albums, it'd be a little difficult to notice a change in the music as far as a bands natural progression goes. In short, they all sound the same. However, Savage Souls does have some difference from Satanic Curses, that being there's less repetition, 'cause in songs like Into the Fire and Savage Souls, they use accoustics and RD is more emotional than usual. Still... _________________ NU-MOD |

You know, acoustics with this band just doesn't sound like something I'd want to hear. I listen to them for the same reasons I listen to PARAGON - for stomping, riff-and-chorus Heavy Metal. I might pick up Regressus, which seems to be pretty lauded in other circles, though.
And yes, I'm the power metal guy everywhere. |

Honestly, it's pretty enjoyable. I only have Satanic Curses and Savage Souls so I can't really comment on their other works, but from what I've heard, I've fetished over.
RD is just a beast. He makes my lungs shake. *dreamy teenypopper sigh* _________________ NU-MOD |

Yeah, I like him better than the Dream Evil or Firewind singers right now; maybe not as much as Stephen Frederick, and definitely not as much as Andreas Babuschkin, though. |
