Coincidently, Stephan's my second favourite vocalist, right behind RD of course. Dream Evil's pretty nice but a little too meh-ish at times. Definitely enjoyable though.

Hell, I'm going to go listen to them now! Ahah thanks there...

Anyway, I've noticed lately I'm a lot more picky about my power metal than my death metal. I really don't have any limits on death metal - just no Cannibal Corpse or modern tech-death and I'll be fine. Yet, with power metal, it's a lot harder for me to find bands that I like. Mmmehh.

What about Paragon? That was the other vocalist I was referencing.

A power metal band by the name of Paragon, eh? I can't say I've listened to them. I will now though. Let's hope they pass my high power metal standards ahah. girdance

Hopefully I'm listening to the same band you're thinking up as a lot of different things came up for Paragon (Swedish techno?)

I listened to Immortal and I clicked it off after 15 seconds. Ick. Nasty ballad. Then I listened to Impaler, and this is some badass stuff. Still, he can't beat RD in my mind.  Cool

They're a bit repetitive, but they also rape and pillage everything.  headbang

edit: Just listen to the album Revenge. I've never heard this "Immortal" song you speak of.

Yeah, like I said, my search wasn't very specific.

I keep thinking how cool it would be if Mystic Prophecy had done a video for a song off of Satanic Curses. But now the two Martins are gone so  Crying or Very sad Oh yeah, by the way, what's your favourite song off Satanic Curses? Ahahah.

And thanks for the Paragon rec, I'm really interested. Sucks to be interested in like 5 different bands at the same time and not enough time or money to make it happen.

I don't think Mystic Prophecy are experts at riffcraft, so their best songs are the ones that rely mainly on RD Liapakis' vocal talents - namely "Sacrifice Me" and "Demon's Blood" are my favorites. "Back from the Dark" is catchy too.

Shocked

What do you mean? I always thought MP had some great, crunchy, and sometimes thrashy riffs. Always catchy - to me anyway, I tend to find myself air guitaring to them lol. Lame as that may be, yes. But that surprised me. The riffs were one of the highest points of Satanic Curses to me...meh. Can't please 'em all I guess.

I like the riffs, it's just that they aren't the best part of the band, like they are with other metal bands. Mystic Prophecy's riffs are fun, but not as good as other bands like Paragon or Iron Savior, or especially Tarot and Wolf.

What I really like about their riffs is that they've a very full, warm and crunchy tone which I love to hear, because it seems a lot of other bands have such shitty guitar tones sometimes ahah. Yeah I'm pretty picky.

I was going to suggest that you come visit my thread on the Runescape forums but then I realized you have to pay a 5 dollar membership fee to post on the forums  Confused

Now Playing: Mystic Prophecy - Master of Sins

None of the bands I named have shitty guitar tones. Wink

I'm not a Runescape player anyway, never been a fan of online games as such.

Yeah, I know, but when compared to Mystic Prophecy's...sorry, man.  Wink

Now Playing: Mystic Prophecy - Evil Empires

You need to listen to this more than any other MP song, ahah. Gang shouts and lots of double bass...great combo.

Hey, if you got no problem with a worthless vocal when the music is nothing but amazing you should try Secret Sphere, if haven't heard them and youre into some kind of symphonic power metal.

Like I said the vocal is bad, bad, bad!
But their album Heart And Anger is a really great album!
