I know Metalcore isn't the preferred choice of music for most "real" metalheads, but if there are any metalcore fans here, which bands are your favorite, and why?

Let me first just say that I'm not a metalcore fan, in fact, I think that 80% of most metalcore bands are total crap. But there are some pretty good metalcore bands out there. Shadows Fall, All That Remains and Lamb of God are my favorites. The problem I have with metalcore, (these bands included) is that they are very inconsistent. The good songs on their albums are very, very, good. Listen to tracks like "Now You've Got Something to Die for" and "Laid To Rest" on Lamb of God's Ashes of the Wake. Fucking awesome. But then again, Ashes of the wake also has tracks like "Break You". So yeah, the good songs are really good, but these -core bands give a whole new meaning to the word "filler".

I do like Metalcore. Lamb Of God and Chimaira are my favourites, I suppose.
I also like Bring Me The Horizon and Job For A Cowboy, but I hate the fact that BMTH are much more interested in their looks (that emo/scene thing) rather than making good music.
But, hmm. I think I prefer Hardcore music on it's own. ^_^

Edit: I have to mention Despised Icon. I love their use of two vocalists; the mid-range, screaming and the low grunts work really well together.

Well, as I discussed with you, we were thinking the site was getting lengthy and it metalcore seemed to go with hardcore better than anything else. Razz

I also don't like metalcore too much, but I do like The Human Abstract, Lamb of God (I'd consider them for groove/thrash though?), Becoming the Archetype, Horse the band, Arsonists Get All the Girls, etc, and The Red Chord who seem to be labeled as metalcore but I think they're deathgrind.

Lamb of God's first album, and their album when they were Burn The Priest both were pretty grindy. I'd label LoG as Melodic Death/Groove with breakdowns. Not -core enough to be labeled Metalcore IMO.

I actually thought Burn the Priest was a lot better then Lamb of God.

I like Burst and Job for a Cowboy.
Metalcore works well live and in small doses for me.

I like some metalcore myself, and deathcore, too. For metalcore, Chimaira is my favourite band. They just do it much more interestingly than most others. Their last album, Resurrection, was a great album. I like a couple of other metalcore bands, too, but we'll leave it at that for now.
