Lacuna Coil has become one of the most popular Gothic Metal bands since the release of their Comalies album. Their recent album Karmacode has drawn them a lot of attention both positive and negative. Right now they're working on a new album. Though a lot of people didn't like Karmacode I actually didn't mind it that much. I'm curious as to what their new album will be like.
I'm curious too... I hope they step away from the Evanescence bullshit. They're too talented for that crap. _________________ I just want to eat your brains.
Honestly I don't think they sound anything like Evanescence. They're just taking a more straight forward Alternative Metal influenced style approach to their music now. I'd personally prefer for them to try something more along the lines of Paradise Lost (new) or Entwine. I think a more Hard Rock influenced Gothic Metal sound would definitely work with them.
If they did more of a hard rock-influenced sound, I'd like that.
But.. seriously. Listen to Our Truth and Closer again... that, to me, sounds reminiscent of Evanescence. _________________ I just want to eat your brains.

Forever Slave's new album "tales for bad girl," sounds more like Evanescence then Lacuna Coil at least to me. The bass is just a deeper and more Alternative Metal influenced but I think it's a bit much to say they sound like Evanescence. It seems like any Gothic Metal band that goes for more straight forward song structures gets accused of sounding like Evanescence so it doesn't phase me that much anymore. They may sound a bit like Evanescence in some areas but overall Lacuna Coil has a lot of other things going on that you'd never see in an Evanescence song.
