RULES AND REGULATIONS (the stuff you have to follow)
1. Healthy debate is encouraged as this is a music forum. But personally insulting people won't be tolerated.
2. If you're going to create a topic make sure it doesn't already exist.
3. Try to post threads about bands in the right section.
4. No spamming. Spamming is when you're making a post that is obviously to only raise post count/gil. Check out the Old Spam and Cheese get a better idea. Also, porn and list = spam. A list thread is one where you just drop names without substance, and are encouraged to do so by the OP (original poster/post).
5. Harassing one of the Admins at their emails or whatever form of personal communication can result in banning.
6. Do not make your posts in haiku format, AKA, avoid starting a new paragraph after every sentence. Doing this is extremely annoying and wastes board space.
7. We realize not everyone speaks English as their first language. However, this site's language is English, and if you're going to constantly fuck around by posting in another language, we won't tolerate it. We can stand broken English, because if you're at least trying, we don't care. Also, no internet memes, unless it's SOMEHOW relevant to the topic, which we highly doubt it'd be.
8. No images (smilies, pictures) in your signature. If you have one, we will remove it.
9. Do not start 1-sided threads that can obviously only go in 1 direction and that leave no room for actual discussion.
10. Do not abuse the welcome message system. I just set up that system, and if you reply to me with a question that has been answered either under FAQ or Feedback and Suggestions, then I may get annoyed. Remember, the automated message comes from my account name...
11. No nudes in the user photo gallery or the band/artist photo gallery.
12. Since Sonic Nexus is a non-profit group, it's easy for us to believe in free media. That is, you can use anything from our website in any way you want, but plagiarism will not be tolerated. Thank-you for your understanding.
13. Posting for the sake of bringing a topic back up is spam.
Failure to follow the rules and regulations will result in a warning. Continuing to try and undermine the regulations and guidelines of the forum will result in banning.
You have no time to re-adjust yourselves to new rules. The announcements will always tell you when new rules are official and all that jazz, so I expect you listen accordingly.
SONIC NEXUS FORUM ETIQUETTE
*This goes nicely in conjunction with the forum rules*
Remember, you don't have to follow these specific guidelines, but *it may get you a mod position if you follow them well* it helps with karma points, and I may modify your cash if you follow them really well and if I'm in a really good mood due to your well-behaved ways.
1. Naturally try and be respectful of other people and their tastes.
2. If someone spams and it's obvious, don't respond to it.
3. Godwin's Law is great. Read about it, follow it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law
4. Not all of us natively speak English. So, if you speak good English, and you see another user doesn't, but you can still understand what they're saying, don't be a dick about it. If you need clarification, ask them what they meant.
5. In addition to #4, some people might not speak your native language. So, if you can't understand something that's being said in English, ask for clarification.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF SONIC NEXUS
One of the special features here on Sonic Nexus is currency that we call gil. Gil is what you can use to purchase things on the forum, such as things from the Shops or tickets in the lottery. You earn gil by posting on the forums. You can also donate gil to other members. So everyone can share in the wealth.
Chatroom: For talking to other members.
Shop: Here you can purchase various albums by your favorite bands. If you don’t see a particular artist that you can like or would just like to make recommendations. You can do so in this thread. I’ll do my best to try and get it up so people can buy them.
Links: The Links are still under construction but I should be hopefully fixing so that that links on the portal are the same as the links in the links section.
Guestbook: Here members can leave various messages for other members to read.
Lottery: There is also a Lottery where users can purchase a ticket using the gil they have accumulated by posting on the forum. You could win free 50 gil.
Oh, and we should let you know that you can only buy virtual items, and you can only earn gil by posting in the music sections of the site. We think this is encouraging, and I personally thought it'd be nice for helpful members to have something that reflects how much they've helped the site.
Maps: beside the "Who Is Online" link, there is a maps option. You can see where the currently online users are from.
Games: play games when you want to cool down from the rush of the forums or the chatroom.
