In fact, I need some seriously doom help. I'm looking for some traditional-styled doom metal with clean vocals. This is important, I want doom with clean vocals only , no death/doom or funeral doom or whatever.

Like I said before, I'm really getting into Warning and Reverend Bizarre, so perhaps that might help you all...

Try Solitude Aeturnus and Lamented Souls.
I love both of those band, and let it be noted that I listen to mainly doom metal within the criteria that you specified.

I just listened to this band "The Sleep". I dunno what sort of doom they are but their album Dopesmoker is fucking amazing.

I'm looking for more Doom that sounds like The Sleep!

It's actually called "Sleep" not "The Sleep".
For similar bands, try OM and High on Fire, as both have members from Sleep.

anyone who loves classic Sabbath style doom, check out Saint Vitus. Grade A doom metal.

And Sleep is fantastic. I recommend Sleep's Holy Mountain.

Hmmm... a user on MA always bugs me about Saint Vitus. I wonder if they could really be that special.

Do you like Black Sabbath style doom? as in no frills doom, no keyboards, no atmospheric non-sense (minus, the rainfall to open "black sabbath"), no choir bullshit? If the answer is yes, then you'll enjoy Saint Vitus.

However, if you are more of a My Dying Bride type metal fan, then they aren't for you.

I enjoy both kinds so no thanks for generalizing there Razz But I guess the fact that they sound like Black Sabbath helps. Which album to start with?

I'm into all kinds of doom metal, although not that much into the stoner and drone sub-genres. Among the bands with a more traditional sound my favourite one is Cathedral. I also like Mael Mórdha and Mourning Beloveth, along with most of the names that have already been mentioned, of course.

I'm very new to this territory and am looking for help. Currently I have Black Sabbath's Master of Reality (fucking amazing) and Revered Bizarre's In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend (bored me to sleep on two occasions), and have heard Sleep's Holy Mountain, an album which is insanely awesome. With this knowledge, besides the obvious Saint Vidus from above posts, which bands would be most highly recommended?

Check out Electric Wizard. They are similar to Sleep. Listen to the album Dopethrone or Come MY Fanatics... first.
Also, traditional doom is a good place to start.
Solitude Aternus and Lamented Souls kick ass.

I'm still a relative newbie when it comes to doom, but what I can gather is that my favourite kind is funeral with completely growled vocals. As it stands right now, my two favourite doom metal albums are:

Shape Of Despair - Angels Of Distress
Comatose Vigil - Not A Gleam Of Hope

I love those kinds of funeral doom metal, and I haven't really found anything close to them yet...mind you I haven't really been looking that hard, either. Wink Some other albums I enjoy are:

Depressed Mode - Ghosts Of Devotion
Mournful Congregation - The Monad Of Creation
Swallow The Sun - Hope
Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea
