Gen. Jackson is quoted as saying, "I have always wanted to die on Sunday." At 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 1863, Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson died in his home state of Virginia.
The General's last words were; "Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees . . ."
