I was just curious as to whether or not any of yalls camps do this? mine (fortunately) does not, but I understand that reciting the pledge of allegiance is a common thing throughout most SCV camps. Personally i don't understand the logic. We congregate to honor the memory of men who fought AGAINST the tyrannical rule of the D.C. regime, and we honor them by first and foremost pledging allegiance to the flag that is still dripping with the blood of the south? I may be a little out of line here, but if anyone has a valid reason why this takes place could ya'll inform me? _________________

Mine unfortunately does and we also use the yankee flag in ceremonies. As far as I know the whole of North Carolina SCVs do this, I asked why and I was told that it is the way "National" wants it??? _________________

when I was getting ready to leave to go to my first camp meeting, I told my wife that I woudl know if I was going to stay with the SCV after the first meeting by whether or not they made the pledge. To me the pledge of Allegiance is nothing more than a forced confession of guilt, and a slap in the face of any southerner.
"ONE NATION, under god. INDIVISIBLE... "
Personally, I am a southern nationalist, I have only one country, The Confederate States of America. I refuse to recognize any illegitimate occupation government, much less swear allegiance to it. _________________

Great Topic....It kills me to see camps or functions uphold this ceremony that was forced upon our forebears.Personally ...it has its purpose..at an American Legion meeting,40/8, V.F.W, etc.Desendants of C.S.A. soldiers???? I think not. Many Commanders fear the "wrath of the peacock strutters" at the state and national level.{Lest we forget}So they make it their utmost to go through with this ceremony anyway. "Vee vill vee vatching you..Col. Hogan!!" What a pity and a disgrace/dishonor to our heroic forebears. _________________

Agreed "Ghoul", but until the States SCVs grow a pair I guess we are stuck. I served my time as a mercenary in the yankee military so I should not be expected to continue to pledge to the yankee government, particularly like you said at a Sons of Confederate Veterans MEETING! As you say, "What a pity..." _________________

Mine does this too, unfortunately. I merely refuse to participate. The most successful and polite way to do this is to stand with yor hands behind your back during the whole pledge, then participate in the SALUTE not pledge to the Confederate flag. I have tried my best to get folks to see the wickedness of us saying the "pledge". I have taken alot of flak, but I have won alot of folks over. _________________

Sometimes it takes a "Secession within a Secession" for the the greater good of all. Or should I say people just knowing "Right from Wrong".....Been there....Still there........When your ship sinks....its not just your local yokel Commander thats to blame. Chances are...he's had his nose up a "struttin'peacock tailbone" at the State and National level.A good ol' "Do Boy"....loves them medals he does..... _________________
