Confederate History Month--Just a month away
From: cjohnson1861@bellsouth.net
Dear Friends,
April 2008, Confederate History Month is about a month away. Let's make it the best ever by getting proclamations and giving educational programs. Please email me at: cjohnson1861@bellsouth.net with an attachment of your proclamation and your ideas to make April a great Month. Please read the 3 important items below.
1. I have received word that Mayor Tommy Allgood, of Acworth, Georgia will present us a Confederate History Month proclamation, for the 2nd consecutive year, on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Acowrth City Hall meeting at 7:00 PM. Those who can make it, I would appreciate the support. Last year there was a good representation from SCV Camp McDonald 1552 and Leonidas Polk Camp.
2. I have sent request for proclamations also to: The City of Marietta, Ga. City of Kennesaw, Georgia, Cobb County, Georgia Commission, City of Atlanta and Fulton County, Georgia Commission. Looking for get one from Cobb County shortly.
3. Please go to www.confederateheritagemonth.com and check the info including stories that can be used in newspaper, radio and TV and Confederate History Month Minutes.
Here below is one of the stories that would be a good lead off for April 1st. Has anyone contacted the media about this? Please help us in sharing your info. Let's make Confederate History Month a national event.

Clay:
I'm glad you posted this.
Otherwise, I never would have known.
Is there a web site link where I can refer folks for more detailed information?
I reckon I can do a GOOGLE search for "Confederate History Month".
I will announce this elsewhere on the Internet in my blog, in Internet discussion forums, and in an e-mail to the individuals in my computer's address book.
I reckon this is also the appropriate time to alert them of President Jefferson Davis' bicentennial.
Thank you. _________________

You're welcome "writesong", glad this article helped...
Confederate Heritage Month
April in Lee County is a very historical one. Yes, it is Confederate Heritage month! A month so proclaimed by the Lee County Commission on April 4th 2006, a Resolution. This is a time to celebrate and honor the veterans of the late War For Southern Independence. Many of the veterans are buried thru ought the area. Buckingham, Alva, New Prospect, and Labelle have many ties to those who put up the good fight and sacrificed life for the defense of their homes and freedom from a vast empire. May we al honor those brave soldiers and sailors who served their country, the Confederate States of America. Many served the U.S. Military before serving in the Confederate States Service. And in the course of history will be remembered as the greatest Americans to ever lead armed forces, i.e. Robert E. Lee (our counties namesake) Stonewall Jackson, Nathan B. Forrest to name a few. This is not just southern history but American history. And just two quick facts-every time you are in downtown Ft Myers you are on a battleground-honor it! And Florida Statute 683.01 (1) (j) proclaims April 26th as Confederate Memorial Day. Look around and see the names of our local counties Hendry (Capt Francis A Hendry C.S.A.), Lee County (Robert E. Lee) and though not named for him buried on Marco Island is Sgt W.T. Collier. Take time to reflect and honor the greatest warriors of America the Southern armies, it our duty as citizens.
Respectfully
Robert Gates

by Calvin Johnson
Dear Friends,
Have you read my first post on Confederate History Month in April?
http://ConfederateHeritageMonth.com
Let's go after city, county and state proclamations in February. In March let's write the news media, TV, Radio and Newspapers, and ask them what they are planning for April---Confederate History Month. I will offer a form letter to the media later.
We have created 20 stories that could be used on TV, Radio and Newspapers. See list below, please copy and use where ever they will be helpful.

April is an important month in America's history. The Great Locomotive Chase, where Union spies attempted to steal the Confederate Locomotive "The General" and destroy rail lines and bridges, took place on April 12, 1862. The month of April has become to be known as Confederate History and Heritage Month.
