This was taken from a pulpits help guide and given by a pastor. It is for sharing and a guide for a daily study. There is no copy write and no restrictions for use.

All scripture is for instruction in righteousness.
II TIMOTHY 3:16

The Bible Is Your Owner's
Manual For A Good Life

When you buy a car or a household appliance, it comes with an instruction booklet called the owner's manual. It tells you how to operate it and what to do if a problem develops. All of this sounds very modern, but there is an ancient precedent for this book of advice. It's called the Bible. However, in this case the instructions apply not to some material possession but to your life, and the way you should live it. Moreover, just as you could misuse your household device, you could also ruin your life by your failure to follow the instructions. So read your Bible and obey it's mandates. Hear it explained at your House of Worship, where you learn that, unlike your household appliances, the rules for a good life will never become obsolete.

As a guide, the Bible is without a rival.

Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
HABAKKUK 3:9

                                The River of Love

RIVERS are vital to the lives and livelihood of millions of people. They nourish the farms that supply our food. They provide drinking water, transportation, power, and in many other ways enable man to survive in an otherwise hostile environment.

They are literally the arteries of the world, carrying life-sustaining water to the land, much as our human bloodstream carries the nutrition we need to the various parts of our bodies. Without such great sources of fresh water as the Mississippi, the Nile, the Amazon and the Rhine, vast areas of our planet could support only the most primitive forms of life.

But there is a river greater than any of these, greater because it is vital to our spiritual lives. It had its source in Bethlehem, and for two thousand years has spread through its tributaries -- the churches --- to the most remote corners of the world. Wherever it has passed, men have been enriched, enormous resources of power have been tapped, people dying of spiritual thirst have been revived. It is the River of Love.

Many attempts have been made to choke off this river of love for Christ. At thousands of points along its course, in every country of the world, blockades of hate and ignorance have been thrown up to stem its flow. All such attempts have failed. All must fail, for the message it carries is undeniable:

Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give
           him shall never thirst.
JOHN 4:13,14

 A Story of Faith

Pete had become lost in the desert and had been chasing mirages. He thought to himself I'll follow this last one. It was a deserted town with a well in the very center. His mouth parched from the intense heat, he ran to the well with his last ounce of energy. He vigorously pumped the handle only to find no water came forth. Then, he looked up to a note nailed to the post. It instructed its readers to "look behind the rock where a five gallon bucket of water will be found and warned against drinking or using it for anything besides priming the pump. For every ounce was needed and warned against drinking even one drop. After pouring the water down the pump; pump the handle vigorously and all the water you desire will come forth. One last instruction, please fill the bucket with water and place it behind the rock for the next weary soul who might happen to come alopng."
How hard it is for people to give up a sure thing for something they cannot see at the time. Pete had a sure thing in the bucket of water and yet was instructed to pour it all down the pump.
We too have difficulty with letting go of the sure thing. It would seem to satisfy for the moment. It is what is needed, supposedly. How easy it is for people to sell out too quickly.
Faith comes by continuing to read His Word and trusting and obeying what He asks. For it is through that obedience that we see God's promises being fulfilled in our lives to bring us to a deeper faith being expressed in further obedience.
Jesus never warned His disciples about having too much faith, but He rebuked them for having too little.
Would you, or are you pouring water down the well:

AUTHOR: UNKNOWN

And the apostles said to the Lord,
             "Increase our faith."
So the Lord said, "If you have faith
as a mustard seed, you can say to
this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by
the roots and be planted in the sea,'
              and it would obey you.
LUKE 17:5,6

Between the great things we cannot do and the
little things we will not do, the danger is we shall
do nothing.

Faith leaps beyond reason, but only in
the direction reason suggest.

Exodus 20:1,2--And God spoke "all these words, saying:
"I am the Lord your God, who brought

                       house of bondage.

                                    THE BIG GAME

I am giving you the ball, son, and naming you the quarterback for your team in the Game of Life. I am your coach, so I'll give it to you straight.
There is only one schedule you play. It lasts all of your life, but consists of only one game. It's a long game with no time out and no substitutions. You play the whole game --- all your life.
You'll have a great backfield. Your're calling the signals, but the other three in the back field with you have great reputations. They are
Faith, Hope and Charity.
You'll work behind a truly powerful line; from end to end, it consists of
Honesty, Loyalty, Devotion to Duty, Self-Respect, Study, Cleanliness and Good Behavior. The goal post are the Pearly Gates of Heaven.
God is the referee and the sole official. He makes all the rules and there is no appeal from them. There are 10 rules---you know them as the Ten Commandments, and you play them strictly in accordance with your own religion.
There is also an important ground rule. It is: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Matthew 7:12
In this game, if you lose the ball, you also lose the game.
Here is the ball son. It is your immortal soul. HOLD onto it.
Now son, get in there and pitch. Let's see what you can do with it, for after all, it is your LIFE!
                                God Bless You

Father guide us and direct us daily. I pray Lord that
my eyes be forever on you and that I do not drop
the ball. In Jesus name I thank you for all that you
have given us to play and to win this game of Life.
           Amen.

                                Actions Speak Louder

Barbara is our quiet child. In our rushing, bustling family of extroverts she smiles and listens, but doesn't say very much. She doesn't seek attention; she shrinks from the limelight.
Every morning and afternoon, along with two of her brothers, she rides the farranging school bus in our rural area.
I had heard of the three little tykes who board the bus each morning. Their faces are unwashed, their hair uncombed, their clothes neglected. It is said that their mother is retarded, and that nobody pays any attention to the children. Somehow, they get themselves off to school. " They smell awful," our sons told us. Everybody holds their noses and moves away from them."
But from the bus driver I learned that there is one who doesn't move away --- our Barbara. It can't be easy for her, shy and retiring as she is. but each day, amid the general hooting and carrying on, she gently buttons and zips, ties shoelaces, tucks in shirts, and smooths the shaggy heads as well as she can. It is possibly the only kindness those children are shown from morning to night. Who knows how much it means to them?
Barbara, a child of a few words - her heart speaks instead.

Father, as we are out an about and should
come into presence of some as these children
help us that we may be like Little Barbara and
not shy away but let our light so shine for you.
                   Amen
