ONE NATION UNDER GOD
? Historical revisionists have tried to deny or obscure the fact that our nation was founded upon Christian principles and a belief in God. The following are some quotations from our forefathers.
"In the name of God, Amen. Having undertaken for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith ... do... solemnly and mutually in the presence of God covenant and combine ourselves together" 1620 - The Mayflower Compact.
"Whereas we all come into these part of America with one and the same end and aim, namely to advance the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ and to enjoy the liberties of the gospel in purity with peace..." 1643 - Constitution of the New England Confederation.
"If you are not governed by God, you will be ruled by tyrants."
William Penn.
"...The laws of nature and of nature's God..." ...that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights..." "...appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions..." "...with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence...." ?1776 - The Declaration of Independence.
"Here is my creed. I believe in one God, the creator of the universe. That he governs it by His providence. That He ought to be worshiped"
1787 - Benjamin Franklin. In the Constitutional Convention:
"I have lived, sire, a long time, and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth... that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow can not fall to the ground without His notice, is it possible that an empire can rise without this aid? |
Our fore fathers and founding fathers were some very wise and pious men, we need to follow their example. Or I suppose I should say our current politicians and leaders need to. _________________

If you preach what is new, it won't be true.
If you preach what is true, it won't be new.

Today's Problem
Today's probem, in the words of the late
Mahatma Gandhi:
Wealth without work.
Pleasure without conscience.
Knowledge without character.
Commerce without morality.
Science without humanity.
Worship without sacrifice.
Politics without principles. _________________

Money Will Buy
A Bed but not sleep.
Books but not brains.
Food but not appetite.
Finery but not beauty.
A house but not a home.
Medicine but not health.
Luxuries but not culture.
Amusements but not happiness.
Religion but not salvation.

When you deliver the sermon be like the weather: have sun, have rain, have sleet and snow. Be thunder, be lightning, be soothing wind. Be anything and everything but fog.

The next time you feel depressed or inadequate, think about the resurrection. The message of the risen Christ is one of hope and victory. He promises never to leave you, and through the encouraging wonder of the resurrection He fulfills His pledge.

TIME: Make It Count
The advice, " Do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made," makes as much sense today as when Benjamin Franklin first uttered it.
1-Each minute, day, and year is given to us once only. then it is gone forever.
2-Persons habitually searching for ways to "Kill time" are seldom found among the alert, the forward-looking, or the happy.
3-Those who are busy fulfilling responsibilities to their homes, jobs, studies, organizations, and public affairs find more joy both in work and relaxation.
4-God gives you and everyone but one appearance on the stage of life. Reflect then, on these lines by Etienne de Grellet: "I shall pass through this life but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do-or any kindness I can show to my fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.." _________________

I have wept in the night for the shortness
of sight.
That to somebody's need made be blind;
But I never have yet felt a twinge of regret for
being a little too kind

The highest happiness on earth is in marriage. Every man who is happily married is a successful man even if he has failed in everything else. And every man whose marriage is a failure is not a successful man even if he has succeeded in everything else.

To reach the port of heaven we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it. But we must sail, and not drift or lie at anchor.
