I am deeply saddened to tell y'all that "The Southern Cause" will be closing down in a week, after over a year of operation. I can not justify putting my time and energy into a project when most of the time I am answering my own posts.
I've had members tell me that they did not see a point in paticipating in a forum where every one agreed and so on. So if people do not wish to participate I am wasting my time. To me Southern Patriotism is more than arguing your point & hating yankees, sometimes it's being with folks that are like minded and sharing good times and developing friendships.
Thank those of y'all that did participate on a regulaer basis and for those that didn't I hope you find what you are looking for. God Bless one and all and may God Bless & Protect our Beloved Dixie...

Reb,
I am saddened that you feel this is necessary.
HOWEVER.
I understand your point.
I'm quite sure we can create an area just for southern related posts on owcp.
As you know I already have several southern related avatars ready for use.
Ranks could be added JUST for members of TSC that desire to come over...
I'll leave the decision entirely up to you.
But this way you could continue to run TSC without much of the headache.
The ONLY thing I see requirement wise
is anyone coming over would need to inform us in their intro they are there as members of TSC
so that I can set them up with necessary permissions.
They would have access to both OWCP and TSC
so could be a win win situation for us both
Just let me know what you wish to do.
ANYONE with questions
should post them here in this thread so they can be abswered BEFORE the site closes down.
If reb wishes to keep this forum alive I am willing to make room
for TSC on my server which means less features we are acustomed to here for now though they ARE being added as time allows.
I can tell you all this now though.
Whatever you have earned post wise here WILL be garanteed
as credited to your accounts there if this does happen.
The ONLY things you may loose are the actual posts
any Karma or points you have earned here will be lost.
The decision is entirely up to Reb though.
Would be a shame to see this site and all it stands for die

is 1st and foremost a forum for showing our support and gratitude to our troops from all the way back to the Revolutionary war to the troops currently serving our nation around the world.
We discuss pollitics troops and ways of suporting them we currently
have fun areas for things such as forum games military trivia, far too much to just explain in this post.
ALL are welcome be they actual active duty or veterans from past wars or just family,friends and fans of our military.

The area for TSC should only take about an hour to get ready for participation.

and apply to all members but they are not so tight as to remove fun out of the equasion
And Rebs existing rules for TSC WILL apply as well

First, let me say that it's been a joy being here - even though I am one of the guilty who didn't post very often.
Secondly, as one who also operates a Southern forum, I understand the feeling that we're just posting to ourselves. I accept that as one of the hazards of being a part of an increasingly marginalized culture.
Thirdly, let me offer http://www.ConfederateColonel.com as an alternative for some here on this forum. I emphasize "some" because ConfederateColonel.com has a different slant than SouthernCause does, and I have seen posts here that would not be a good "fit" at Confederate Colonel. For those who look over the site and believe they fit the mold we have created, I believe you will be quite satisfied. We are aggressive in maintaining our purpose - it remains the same now as it did when we started it.

Confederate Colonel has no advertising, no donations or anything like that. It does cost money to maintain a web forum, but I have been blessed with the means to afford to pay the expenses myself. Confederate Colonel has been in operation just a few weeks short of a year.
I am loathe to "poach" members from other sites which is why I really haven't mentioned my forum before now. Seeing that Southern Cause is closing down though, I think it is appropriate to offer Confederate Colonel as a new home for some. If you are interested, please take the time to look the site over carefully. It is completely open to anyone for reading. Registration is required only for posting.

Reading this just breaks my heart, I hate to see this site close
but like Outsider I can see your point. It is heart breaking to put so much time, effort and love into something for so long and then have to make a decision to close down. You have done a wonderful job with this site Reb and I for one am very proud of you and your efforts. 
It is my hope and pray not to see it go away for ever and can't understand why a true southner would not like a place where they can be with other southern folks and just enjoy each other and supporting the South and our efforts without wanting to put down others. That is not the way I was brought up. Just because they don't like us and our ways we do not have to lower ourselves to their levels and talk hatered toward them. Just put the truth out there about our great South, they are going to beleive what they want to anyhow. Besides you never know how many we reach that will see the truth finally and know who the real criminals were.

Johnny I know you gotta do what you gotta do but it sure does suck.
I work 6 days a week and didn't do my part as much as I would have liked to, but I must say there was one good crew over here, fine Southern men and women.
Hopefully, we can run into each on another board or something.

Maybie I was hasty in my wanting to shut this down. I had no idea that this would impact so many people the way it did, I did not really think that many people would care and some of you didn't, but enough of you did care enough to tell me true feelings through posts, texts and emails. One in particular touched me deeply, so I will leave "The Southern Cause' open for the time being. I want to thank all of y'all who cared enough to say that they enjoy the site, the information on it and more importantly more than one of you mentioned how much they would miss each other... Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
