Thanks so much for the prayers it means alot to me and my family to have Southrons who care enough to pray for us. I'ts pretty much a mess up here ya know has to be when a podunk county like ours makes the national news 2 days in a row. lol...... so far the levee nawth of our place has held unlike 3 others in the county. One breach is 2 football feilds long they say...... there are 3 CSA vets buried in that area, I fear the worst for their graves. I dread that first trip there after the water goes down, With heavy rains predicted for the weekend, it may be awhile for we get up there to check. Again thanks for the prayers

I don't know how I missed this post, sorry feathersandgrey. As I read it today's scripture came to mind. Isaiah 49:14-16 says But Zion said, "The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me. Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you. See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me."
God is saying that through all this He is with you and you are well in His hands. He will take care just trust in Him and His love. Prayers are going up for you and all the many others out your way. God Bless and stay safe. _________________

Thanks for the words of scripture and y'alls prayers, yet another levee up here broke this morning around 1 am, it just get sadder by the day. The common everyday man is pulling together , but the ones with the real power seem content on flyovers and such, sad sad sad........Channel 10 out of Indiana did a story on our county titled "Forgotten Illinois." One of my good friends was interviewd and I have include parts of that interview. It truly shows how Southern Illinois is percieved by the rest of the state, it has been that way since the Lincoln Era, reckon thats why the Copperhead Movement was so strong then and why it continues to be that way to this day. Thanks again for the prayers Lord knows they are needed by thousands here,
Forgotten Illinois
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. (WTHI) - Six Illinois counties declared state disaster areas Wednesday.
Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Jasper and Lawrence counties are all getting hit hard by flooding.
The declaration comes a few days after the flooding began, leaving some folks in Illinois feeling like they were forgotten about.
High waters rushed through Illinois leaving folks living there devastated.
Many of them still can't reach their homes.
In the midst of this disaster, they're reaching for answers.
"It's a plea for help we need to have someone standing for us," said flood victim, Gayle Bridges.
They feel ignored.
"We're country folk, they don't worry about us much," said victim Ken Caughran.
But officials say they're doing all they can.
"We'll continue to provide any assistance doing that to support local effort," said IEMA Region 9 Coordinator, Steve Simms.
They admit, the flooding is getting worse before it's getting better.
"We haven't reached the high point of the water coming into the basin area around here," said Simms. "I think it's somewhat of a waiting game because as you're aware the water is still coming up from the levee breaks."
Lawrenceville City Councilman Wendell Stevens understands the frustration, but there's not much that can be done right now.
"Mother nature dealt us a bad set of cards and we're going to have to deal with it," said Stevens.
Until mother nature folds, these folks will feel the pain.
"Try to take out what I can save," said flood victim Rosella Ayers. "We just have to grin and bear it."
Senators Barack Obama and Dick Durbin say they will do everything they can for these communities to recover and rebuild as soon as possible.

yall are too kind but your words warms this old heart. It just isnt getting easier here, we are now under yet another flash flood warning, as well as yet another severe thunderstorm warning with anticipated rainfall at an inch per hour until sometime around 8 this evening. On radar it looks like a large front.............further bad news yet another levee has broken here this one is about 7 miles to our South. In regards to our ancestors graves of the 17 know CSA vets graves here in our county, I am very saddened to say that all but one lies under multiple feet of water at this time. The one that remains dry is but 1 1/2 miles from our door. It should remain safe as it sets on a very large hill, however Charlettesville cemetary where we have 3 vets buried, is also on a large hill, and rescue worker who was at our home for supper last night said that the cemetery is under water that means flood waters at that spot must be 40 feet or more. Very sad indeed. Again thanks for the kind words and prayers. I hope this all hasnt been boring to anyone, I would have never posted the subject at all had it not been for our ancestors graves. Humbled in theior shadows

Y'all honour me with your kindness far more than I am worthy, I thank you none the less. We are bracing at this moment for round 3 of storms today, we have been told to expect hail , high velocity flatline winds, and torrential rain that can measure up to 2 inches per hour of fall. FEMA has been seen in county in their riot gear, the guvner finally appeared today 4 days after the fact and was met by some very shaken and tragic displaced and very upset folks. He said " he had flown over the area, and one lady in the crowd said that does the people no good, that he needed to see it first hand via her 24 foot jon boat, the guv did not take her up on the offer. The internet is full of photos of the devastation, left in the wake of the levees breaking, however some of the most dramatic ones I have seen have come from friends of ours, some have lost their homes, livestock, and material possessions. Fortunately the good Lord has spared them their lives. Their losses as well as those of thousands of others here , weigh heavy on my family's hearts. Our county is so small one can not help but know someone who has lost everything. Again I thank you y'all for the opportunity to share this situation. Just writing about it in some bizzare way seems to help. If that makes any sense. Blessins' to y'all
