Yes sir, it surely is. I am all over the www trying to spread the good word of Southern pride
The memorial idea that I have I have been working on for a couple of years, it just got slowed down by a lack of funding in the form of unemployment at the moment. the area I selected has been my "pet cemetary" for a couple of years now, actually. the rock wall for the fountain will go over the area where my dogs are buried, with the fountain just in front. the ol lady has wanted one of those little Koi ponds, I have been wanting a memorial... it WILL happen at some point in time. _________________

This is a personal Memorial to Confederate Dead that "feathersandgrey" erected in Lawrence County, Bridgeport IL, it is very nicely done. I told him I would post it for him but I'm sure he will answer any questions y'all may have...
The inscription on the stone reads:
"THERE IS A TRUE GLORY AND A TRUE HONOR;
THE GLORY OF THE DUTY DONE
THE HONOR OF THE INTEGRITY OF PRINCIPAL"
Robert E Lee CSA
Dedicated to the memory of the 12 known Confederate Veterans buried in Lawrence County. And to those who lie here unknown yet.
Placed by the Illinois Division Sons of Confederate Veterans and Order of the Confederate Rose 2002 |
Hey 'unreconstructed1" that sounds awesome too, looks like "feathersand grey" might have started a wonderful trend. With folks like y'all our Southern heroes will never be forgotten. _________________

Well apparently some yankee thug scum demolished "feathersandgrey's" Confederate Memorial he and his family and friends construced so being a great Southern Patriot, he is re-constructed it. And here's a quote from our friend as to what happened;
"After the gangstas bent our flag poles (the skinny aluminium ones,) and after they turned the concrete bench over, and a few other uncalled for acts of vandalism. I told Pam we were gonna have to do something, 1, to re do the damage done, and 2. make the area more secure. I put an appeal out for assistance in refurbishing the area, and that we needed $350, to get the job done. Well good folks came through for us in fact we raised $420.00 The new flag poles are not as tall as the previous ones, however they are made out of 2 1/2 inch oilfield casing set in concrete 2 ft x 2 ft wide 2 1/2 ft deep. They wont be bending these in half like a sapplin'. We put up another security light with motion detector, as well as 100 feet of fence, completely enclosing the memorial. We did considerable landscaping, planted bushes ,ever greens, and flowers at the memorial and in the meditation garden as well.
The neighborhood is just raving about how beautiful it has turned out. Well, sorry to ramble my friend......hope y'all enjoy the pic.
Confederately
T Warren" ( feathersandgrey)

JohnnyReb Sir
I send most sincere thanks from my family to you and yours, as well as those on this forum for the kindness you have shown throughout some trying times, and for posting the pics of the memorial here. We are quite proud of how it turned out, and honoured by the folks that contributed to make the refurbishment possible. To the best of my knowledge it is the only memorial to Confederates in illannoy where the flags fly 24/7 365 days a year If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me lol
Blessins to all.

T, excellent work with the memorial renovation. I am sorry to hear about the yankee vandals, but at least they didn't have the final say in the subject.
and on a personal note, thanks for honoring the REAL flag of my native state in the monument. _________________

To my unreconstructed brother ,
My family and I love that flag, ever since we made the march from Turner field to the gold dome of King Sonny, Ga, stole our hearts. When I got tossed out of the peoples house in hellanta for refusing to surrender the colurs before entering the peoples house, I knew there was a place for me and mine in Ga. A 4x6 56 flag has been the backdrop on stage at every show I have performed at since...... be it solo, or with the band..... when my time is done on this earth the misses promised she'd scatter my ashes in the Little Satilla.....thats pretty close to Heaven in my eyes. Thanks for all ya do for our beloved Southland. _________________

Oh you mean this one HWG?
Helen Plane felt it was the duty of the Daughters of the Confederacy to preserve the memory of Confederacy and the veterans who served during the war. Her husband fought with General Robert E. Lee during the War Between the States and died at Gettysburg. When the first Daughters of the Confederacy Convention took place in Atlanta, Georgia, Plane wanted Atlanta represented. Chapters of the organization already existed in both Savannah and Augusta and the veteran's widow had widespread support for an Atlanta chapter. It was officially formed on July 18, 1895 and had an initial membership of 100 people.
