do I insist on torturing myself?

Just finished reading "Chosen by a Horse" yesterday and the lump in my throat is still choking me today!

Aimee-Beth didn't realize it was about a Standardbred when she bought it for me...and I didn't realize it is a memoir, not a novel.

Got out to breathe in some Hanna this am, just before sunrise and off to the barn ultra early to just listen to X munch his hay.

Huge thumbs up to anyone looking for an uncomplicated summer read......but be sure to have the hanky nearby.
I think it came out a couple years ago....but other than Dressage Today or Practical Horseman, I have not been reading much. (and even those seem skimpier by the issue!)

She's also bought me "Riding Lessons" and "Flying Changes"...man, they also look good but they have the obligatory heart wrench in them I am sure.

Very Happy  Razz  Very Happy

A friend from work who is moving gave me a bunch of Rita Mae Brown books. IT's a completely different genre.  She writes  of fox hunting and tales of the south.

I'm not sure when I'll get to read them but they are waiting... sometimes it's nice to sit down to a good book.

I'm on call this weekend so will be in the office for a bit. No time this weekend but soon..very soon.. Smile

Jody, glad you liked the book. I finally remembered to pass my copy on to Cath but included the warning about the tissues.  Don't know if she has read it yet. Cath??

I took "Chosen by a Horse" to the polls when I worked Election Day and after I finished two super  paperacks by Brad Brown, DVM -- about large animal medicine in Maine -- "While You're' Here, Doc" and "Just One More Thing, Doc! -- I started Chosen.

When I got to a certain section, I knew it would not be cool to be registering voters with tears streaming down my face ... so the book is by my recliner waiting for me to be a little more strong!

Nothing wrong with being "sappy", Cath! Smile

I took it to the doctor's office to finish reading while I waited;
HO BOY...the one thing I will say is that it kept the lump stuck;  my lip was contorted and I did an awful lot of swallowing hard. Shocked

Cath....it's not as "sad" as it is moving.
It is sooooo worth the read, it really is.

I just borrowed the book Riding Lessons and was told to get "choosen by a Horse" good reads with the Tufts crowd -
can't read  till I am on vacation, to much to do a home to sit still
Have several to take along - will need more vacation time Laughing
