CHAPTER I: THE NEW INVENTION
“I’M HOME” yelled Justin Morris as he threw his backpack on the table. He was a boy of twelve with shining blue eyes, and for some reason, he had an unnatural obsession with science. His foster parent, Mike, said “Justin, we need to talk.” “sure,” Justin said “What is it? “Well,” He replied, almost sighing “It’s time for you to pack, you are going back to the orphanage tomorrow.” “oh,” Justin said, looking sad “ok, guess you weren’t satisfied with me then.” “no, no we just don’t have the money right now.” Mike said quickly “ no, I’m not stupid, I’ve been to four different foster homes and everyone has said the same thing, ‘we don’t have the money right now’” Justin said angrily, making quotation marks with his fingers. “ No! its not like that…it’s not what we thi-” Mike muttered “it’s not what you think you need, everyone has said that too!” Justin yelled as he stomped to his room.
Later, that night, he started writing his daily journal entry, Dear Journal, today I’m beginning to pack. yes, I have to go back to the orphanage to let some wise guy tell me how someone, someday, will adopt me, after five foster homes, you’d think he’d get tired of telling the same sob story excuse he tells me every time, I know it’s not going to happen. I’ve just found my shrink ray and I’m going to start shrinking my inventions and putting them in my bag tonight. Nobody knows my secret, I just wish I could be normal. Have to pack. ~Justin.
The next day they drove up to the orphanage and got out, after he got his bags, both of his foster parents hugged him and said “ we will miss you Justin.” “that’s what everyone else said too.” he mumbled. Later he heard his arch enemy Timothy Abraham call across the room, “hey crustin, everyone hate you,? still no home?” “Well Timothy, looks like you’ve had lots of luck with parents too.” he yelled back.
The next day the orphanage owner, Larry Lushes came walking towards Justin and said “ Justin, I have good news! Someone is applying to foster house you for a year and a half!” “whoopee.” Justin said, glumly. “Another year of boringness. I‘m so exited.” “a year and a half, Justin.” Larry said “ Thanks, very comporting.” Justin sighed “well, you are leaving in two days.” Larry said, also a little glumly “the sooner the better.” Justin said “ I’ll get Timmy trash your life even more than it is out of my face.”
“ Goodbye Justin, good luck!” yelled Larry as Justin was walking to the bus. “have a good year of embarrassing yourself!” Tim added in. As he said it Justin was thinking “will…control…anger…will…not-” BEEP! BEEP! “ come on, we don’t have all day” the bus driver yelled.
“Well, this is the place, 711 lakeside AV. Good luck!” the bus driver said as Justin waked out. As he rang the doorbell he thought. “ these people better not be as stuck up as the last people were”. “Well hello! You must be Justin!” some guy said “ I’m Bill, your foster parent. Come on in! I’ll let you put your stuff in your room and then give you a tour of the house”! “do you use your basement at all”? he asked. “ why no, we don’t, why do you ask?” “well, I like science and I do experiments, so could I have down there as a room? Oh, and can you guys not come in it….at all”? “sure…ok…well, we will put your stuff down there instead.”
Later that evening he started writing his daily journal entry, Dear journal, today I moved to a new house, I don’t know but these people seem different, I cant put my finger on it, but I have a fragment more hope than I did last time. Anyway, after I’m done with dinner, I am going to set the shrink ray to reverse and set up my lab. I am working on a new invention, a portal, it isn’t just any kind of portal, I call it the Jeanie portal, you go in wishing you had something and poof you have it! But there is another setting, make a world setting, I have to make a few modifications, but soon I will be able to escape to my dream world! Oops! Gotta go, dinner time!~ Justin.
A week later, as Justin was coming up for dinner, his foster parent said, “ well Justin, tomorrow you are going to school, so I hope you have all your school supplies”. “yep!” he replied “I think so”! good! Its nice to know that we have a responsible person around the house”!
The next day as Lillian, his foster parents maid dropped him off she said “well, see you after school! And remember, walk home!” “ok.” he replied grinning, “you are always getting people to exercise. Maybe you ought to start your own fitness camp someday, who knows, you might become famous!” “I think there is more to life than having money and being famous, oh, why am I arguing with a twelve year old! Hurry up or you’ll be late for school!” As Justin walked up to the school he bumped into a small man with glasses like Harry Potter. At first he was frightened but then the small man said, “Oh, I’m sorry. You must be Justin Morris! I am principle Bob Lee Jackson but you shall call me Mr. Jackson, ok”? “yes, oh, I’m sorry I bumped into you I…. I.. was just deep in thought. It wont happen again.” he replied. “ok then, lets show you around!”
After he got acquainted with the class, school started. The teacher was just finishing looking at some papers and then said “ well hello! We have a new student, Justin Morris! He will be here a year and a half, maybe even more! Justin, why don’t you come up here and tell us a little about yourself”! “hello,” he said, as he walked up, I am Justin Morris and I like science. Pretty simple speech, I like si-.” “shut up!” he heard a kid say, “ you can’t like science as much as me. I’m the most devoted science kid in school! Anyway, you couldn’t make a stuffed animal! Let alone more high Tec stuff!” “as a matter of fact, I can.” he said calmly, “ the question is, can you?” “yeah!” the kid yelled “ok then,” Justin said “can you make a ray that sucks your atoms into hyperspace, and shoot them back, shrunk, in a matter of seconds?” “no! neither can you!” without saying anymore, Justin took what looked like a blaster from star wars an pulled it out of his backpack. Then the teacher lost it. “young man!” She yelled “no weapons are allowed in school!” Then, in a calm voice he replied, “ Mrs. Longstreet, this is no weapon, it is a shrink ray. Now, what will I use it on?” “here, use it on my pencil!” shouted one of the kids. “ok” he said as he set it down on a desk. He pointed his ray at it and pulled the trigger. Steam started to rise, It looked like the pencil was turning inside out! And when the steam cleared there was a mini pencil! “but……it’s just impossible!” the bully muttered “ apparently not. Lets get back to class.” Justin said quietly.
At Recess a boy walked up to Justin and said “ Are you Justin Morris?” “yep” he said, not even looking up. “that’s me.” “I’m Matthew Clarisse and I really don’t know how to say it so I’ll just flat out say it. Can I be your friend?” “um…” he said shocked. “yeah, I-I mean yes, yes you can!” “ Thanks, you were very brave to stand up to Bruce like that. The last person that did that ended up in bed for a week.” “ “yeah! You really rocked up there”! another boy said as he walked up “I’m Matthews brother, Mark. Could I maybe be your friend too?” “yes” Justin replied “you can”. “wait! Back up there, did you say inventions as in plural?” Matt said excitedly. “yes Matt, I have more inventions.” “COOL! Could we come over after school and see them?” “I guess Bill and Mandy won’t mind. Sure! Meet me by the main entrance after school.” “am I allowed to come?” asked Mark. “yes Mark, you can come.”
“Lets go! Matt yelled after school “Wait!” Mark said “are we walking?” “yep” Justin replied, grinning. “I only live a mile and a half up this street! Is everyone that lazy in school these days?” “no!” he said angrily “I’m as fit as a fiddle!” “he’s the laziest boy I know.” Matt whispered to Justin.
About five minuets later Justin said, “do you guys hear something?” “do you mean like someone is following us?” Matt whispered. “yes, I hear it.” Mark exclaimed, then, all of a sudden a boy of about thirteen jumped on them. Justin acted fast, he used a puddle with his liquid super power to make a sort of force field shield of ice. That made the kid fall on his back and then Matt made cuffs with his earth power! “I had no idea that you had powers!” Justin yelled. “me either!” Matt yelled back. “hey” Mark broke in, “I have super powers too! All of a sudden he turned into metal and started to throw metal chunks! “awesome so what do we do with this kid?” Mark said. “well I guess we could send him home, when he tells what happens, he’ll get mocked all over school!” Justin said “I’m for that idea.” so Matt took away the cuffs and that boy ran faster than he had ever ran before.
Later, as they walked through the door Justin yelled “ BILL, MANDY, I’M HOME! “you sure can get loud!” Matt said “it runs in my family.” Justin replied, grinning. “Lets go down to my room.” once they got down, Matt said “ there is nothing down here!” “you don’t look on the inside of things, do you?” Justin said, walking to the wall, put his hand on a tile on the wall and the wall swung open! “ now you know why I call it my secret lab.” he said. There were tons of shelves loaded with gadgets, the bigger ones were on the floor. I am working on a new invention, a portal, it isn’t just any kind of portal, I call it the Jeanie portal, you go in wishing you had something and poof you have it! Five minutes later Matt said for the fifth time, “are you done yet?” “Yes!” Justin yelled, “yes I’m done!” “lets try it out!” said Mark, who had been quiet mot of the time. “ok, Matt, go in wishing you had a giant almond candy bar!” “but-I-I-…” “oh, just shut up and do it!” Mark yelled. Slowly, Matt started for the portal. And when he went through there was a big Poof! POP! Ping! Then Matt came out with a giant almond candy bar! “ awesome!” Mark said, as he came out from behind a huge chair. “never doubted that it wouldn’t work.” “wow” Justin added in “that was amazing!” “I don’t like almond!” Matt complained “I know, you told me.” Justin said, taking it from him “I do! Now lets try the make a world setting!” he flipped a switch and the portal went from being bright red, to dark blue. “ this is going to be my world” he said as he put a computer chip in his hair. “you two follow!” Poof! POP! Ping! At firs it looked like it was going to go on forever and when you least expected it, you dropped out. “oh, my goodness, this is not what I wanted!” Justin said loudly. “why is it so spooky?” Mark said. “I don’t know but I’m going to find out!” he said, pulling a box from his pocket, he pushed a button and it made a loud zzzzzzzzz pop! As it drilled an underground lab. “lets go” Justin said, jumping into a hole. After he got to the bottom there was a metal door with three holes, one was filled with water, the next was filled with dirt, and the last was pure steel. “ go up to your power and you do your power on it!” “wow, that’s clever!” Matt said. “I always put a security system in for those times when you just want to get away.” Justin said as he walked on the water. “I have a feeling we’re going to need this lab for more than getting away. I think some time soon, we actually will need to get away. Like from an enemy.” Mark said, right before he turned into steel. “you mean like….we’re going to have a war? Cool!” Matt said, also about to use his power. When they all were done, the metal door slid open and they walked into a huge room. When you first walk in you see ahead of you a small theater screen, and on the other wall there was three desks with leather revolving chairs by them, each desk had a computer on it. There was another wall with shelves and shelves of weapons upon weapons upon weapons. They spent the next few hours setting stuff up and getting things out. After a while mar said, “it’s getting late, don’t you think? I think we should go home.” “I guess your right.” Justin said glumly “Same time tomorrow?” “Um….. Duh! Yeah!” Matt yelled “you think I would miss an adventure like this? Never!” “Well, then I’ll see you at school!” And they all went through the portal, talking among themselves about what to do the next day.
CHAPTER II: FLIGHT OF UNICORNS
“Come on, we can’t waist any time!” Matt yelled, running out of the school. “wait… huff,…huff…wait up!” Mark huffed as he stumbled to catch up with the two boys. “fit as a fiddle. Is that right?” Justin said as he fell back “ YO, MATT! WAIT UP! MR. FIT AS A FIDDLE IS GETTING TIERD!” “Mr. fit as a fiddle, I like that! Hi Mr. fit as a fiddle!” Matt nagged. “you are so, so lucky were in public.” Mark said “Why” Matt answered in his taunting voice. “because right this very second you would be on the ground with a one ton block of steel on top of you!” Mark snapped. “um…Justin, help…me” “now boys, you can save beating each other up for after we save my world.” Justin said in his usual, smooth voice. “and trust me,” Mark added in, “you are going down.”
Later, when they were back at the lab Justin said, “well, today’s the day we save Tyrranna!” “what’s Tyrranna?” Mark asked. “oh, it’s just the name of my world, anyway, I need to get the time and space connector. Then I can stop time in this world, so we don’t have to come back until we fixed Tyrranna! You two, meet me in the lab in Tyrranna.” “got it!” Matt and Mark said together. Then they went through the portal, Justin got down what looked like a handheld satellite and pulled the trigger, everything on earth stopped, time, space everything except him and the portal. Then he went through. After he got in the lab Matt said “lets start packing! Get the tent, food, water, weapons-” “wait up,” said Justin, “since when did I make you in charge of this operation?” “um…um…” Matt mumbled “that’s right! Lets put everything in a line, then I’ll shrink it all so we can put it in one backpack.” “come on Matt!” Mark said, in a taunting voice, grinning “stop being lazy.”
“on the road again…..oh, on the road again.” Matt started singing as soon as they left. “what do you mean, ‘again’?” Mark said, “we haven’t even started, and there’s no road!” “sheesh!” Matt yelled back “Just try’in to give a little motivation, that’s all!” “Boys!” Justin yelled angrily “you two better find some way to get along, or by darn I will throw you in the lake of the lost monster!” “wh-what’s the lake of the lost monster?” Matt muttered “oh,” Justin said, more cheerily. “it’s just a lake……with a horrid monster in it. Legend has it that it wanted to rule Tyrranna, but the king overthrew the monster and cast it into the forbidden lake- that’s what it was called until they cast it there- and anyone who dares to cross it, never makes it to there destination, they just vanish without a trace, the monster was so huge, it could easily swallow a boat whole.’ so I suggest you get along.” “um…Justin, you are freaking me out.” both of them said. “What? It’s true!” “why did you want a world like that?” Mark asked “because it’s no fun without danger!” Justin teased.
“huff-huff , how much longer till we camp did you say?” Mark said, trying to catch his breath, “and why can’t we stop?” “well,” Justin said “ I said about an hour and a half till we camp and the don’t stop part I’ll keep to myself.” “why will you keep it to yourself?” Matt asked “is it scary?” “yes, it is scary.” Justin exclaimed “come on Justin, what do you think we are, baby’s? come on tell us!” Mark said, tiredly. “well if you must know this is the vampire forest,” Justin said in a sort of spooky voice “if you look up you can see them hanging in the trees watching us. You should be fine, they only suck the blood of non moving targets but it‘s very painful, so don‘t stop.” “ don‘t stop, don‘t stop, don‘t stop.” Matt whispered to himself.
“Finally!” Mark gasped “Camp! Must, lay, down! Must, go to, sleep!” “yeah! I need to sleep too!” Matt agreed. “you two tired? This aint’t nothing yet!” Justin said, pulling out a map. “Tomorrow, I think the quickest way to travel is through the lake of the lost monster, yeah, that’s what we’ll do tomorrow.” “What!” Matt yelled “your kidding, that’s suicide!” “don’t worry Matt.” Mark said “Justin has liquid powers, we’ll be alright.” “I’m worrying! I am not, I repeat, not, going on that lake!” “oh, you’ll go on that lake whether you like it or not.” Justin said, fingering his water sack he always carried. “now, lets get camp set up, we need lots of sleep for tomorrow.”
It took a while for Justin to get to sleep, and when he finally did, he was awakened by a strange, mmmmm….mmmhhhh…oooooo.. Finally, after ten minutes of the sound, he decided to check it out. He slowly opened the insta house door then he saw a small figure dart around the corner he started slowly for the corner unclipping his water sack, he peeked around the corner only to shine his flashlight on a rather chunky, Dwarf. “Wow, I don’t know what I was so afraid of, it was just a Dwarf.” he thought. “Hello little guy, I’m Justin, rightful ruler of Tyrranna. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.” “me think you are spy.” the Dwarf said. “why would you think that? Look, I have the Crystal Power.” said Justin, moving a dead tree stump with a power like the Force. After it stopped moving it started to sparkle and it suddenly shot up and made delicious apples in seconds! As he did it he felt ashamed that he hadn’t told his friends about his second power. “ Yoo-Hoo!” the Dwarf cheered “the prophesied one here! Yoo-hoo! Me not have much, but I give you what I have! Come! Me give you a unicorn!” “wait!” Justin said “ your unicorns fly, don’t they!” “of course they do!” the Dwarf said “me never hear of no flying unicorn!” ’I’m sorry but I can’t, I can’t leave my friends.” “you no have to!” the Dwarf yelled “Me unicorn farmer! Me have lots of unicorns!” “ok, I’ll wake up my friends. Oh, what’s your name?” “me name is Andabeck” he said “ok, Andabeck we’ll be ready in about fifteen minutes.” Justin said, excitedly. He wouldn’t be exited if he knew who was watching them.
“Ok,” Mark said “ let me get this straight, you hear a noise in the night. You go out to see what it is. It’s a Dwarf that thinks you’re a spy, you speak in a different language and he gives you a unicorn? And then he agrees to be a guide across the lake of the lost monster?” “your right on target.” Justin said, still ashamed from not telling the truth. “it’s alright.” he thought to himself “its not there time to know.” “Come! We must leave now!” Andabeck said eagerly. “today the bad day of Tyrranna!” “Bad day in Tyrranna?” Matt asked “what’s that?” “you not know what bad day in Tyrranna is?” Andabeck said, shaking his head “nope.” Matt replied flatly “bad day in Tyrranna started when the evil wizard of the dark wood wanted to rule Tyrranna.” The Dwarf began “He made an evil army of vampires to help him. Everyone knows a wizard got to have a weakness in his creations, well, there weakness was moving prey. No one would think that! Anyway, the wizard thought he could paralyze the kings army with magic. But he not powerful enough, he and his army got drove back into the wood, the wizard died of arrow in heart. Some of the vampires lived and made more vampires. Now the dark wood called vampire forest. Every one-hundred years the vampires come out and kill whoever they can, moving or not. So we leave now.” the Dwarf ended “lets get a move on!” Mark said, hopping quickly onto his unicorn. “just what I was thinking!” Matt said as he did the same. “and we off!” Anabeck yelled. The unicorns lifted off the ground and into the sky. The boys didn’t have to do anything because all the unicorns were strapped together like reindeer.
“Master! Oh, Master!” yelled the hundred year old wizard, Hannad as he ran to lord Densad’s chamber. “Oh, lord Densad! The prophesied one is here!” “WHAT?” boomed a voice from a dark throne in the camber. It was so dark, that all you could see were his evil red eyes glaring at the wizard. “the prophesied one is here!” croaked the wizard, knowing that some kind of pain would be inflicted in him soon. “THE PROPHESIEID ONE?!” the voice boomed. “yes the prophesied one.” said the wizard. Then lord Densad raised his hand and it felt like the wizards head was going to fly off. He held his head in pain as he screeched, “but I know where there going!” the pain stopped. “were are they going?” lord Densad said more calmly “they are now taking a trip across the lake of the lost monster.” the wizard said. “ hah! that should finish them off.” said lord Densad “but sire,” Hannad added in “they aren’t going on boat, they have made allies with a unicorn farmer and they are flying!” “WHAT!” yelled the evil lord Densad “LEAVE ME ALONE! I NEED TO THINK!” and that wizard ran off as fast as he could.
“It’s beautiful up here!” Justin yelled up to Mark “I know! I just wish I wasn’t felling like I was about to fall off!” Mark yelled back “Guys! Guys! Look!” Matt yelled to both of them, pointing to something below “I think I see the lost monster! Look! Right below the surface!” indeed there was a huge figure moving rapidly below the surface. It was so close to the top that you could see the current it left behind “wow!” Justin yelled “that’s amazing!” “you not get to see that for lots of hundred years!” Andabeck said “you very lucky!”
“Servant!” lord Densad called “Yes master.” the servant said “send for Hannad, tell him I need him at once!” “yes master” the servant answered. “and be quick about it, you know what happened to my last servant who kept me waiting.” “I’m sorry master, but I don’t” The servant said curiously. “I used him as a test dummy for my latest spell, the spell of insanity.” “yes my lord, it will be done as soon as it can be done.” the servant replied.
“Master!” said Sarmant, Hannad’s servant “I am being given a telepathy from lord Densad’s servant.” “go ahead then,” Hannad said boldly, but he was really rather frightened. “tell me it!” “he said lord Densad wants you immediately!” “we must turn around!” Hannad said urgently. “yes master.” his servant said. |
