Just having a look to see who would be going into each groups after this weeks matches I noticed this match still han't been played.

As you are only 8 points of off each other and that could be closer after tuesday. When will this match be played, I want to know if ill be visiting the back and beond that is Rodmersham (Even the Home players need a Tom Toim to find it (MP) Wink ) or  visiting the cousin loving land (Lets stop the car to talk to everyone we pass Evil or Very Mad) that is Cascades?

Not sure it has been arranged yet, Cascades had to re arrange with us in the first half too, think they couldn't get all the big boys they need together on the right night or something.

Nice of us to let them hey!!!

We have thought about putting our juniors out against them, as we will have no chance of beating the team they buy in anyway.  We could all get a night off and look forward to the second half.

Personally I think we should claim it, we have had two re arranged matches, and both have been Cascades.

We won 5:0 last night and Cascades I think won 4:1 but I don't think the result is up yet so not sure where we stand at the moment, other than the gap must be smaller.

Hmmm and interesting one although we all know this should never have been allowed to happen. It's going to mess up the time it would taketo get the next fixtures out - they should have been out in the next few days really.

You going to try and claim the points? That would mean you go through to the top tables playoffs?

I really don't know what is happening, I think we would be a little out of our depth in the top section of the league to be honest.  We realise that the other teams are getting pro's in, and we don't want to go that route, or can't afford it, so would be better suited to playing the 3rd and 4th teams.

Although I think it may go to a committee somewhere, where I can't see any reason we would lose out, as our team was available to play the match.

I don't know the rules of the priory, perhaps you can fill us all in!

Just to be quite clear on this issue, the league commitee sent a letter to all club captains a few weeks ago confirming the nomination status rule and 2 game rule for phase 1 and phase 2. An addendum on this to both us and Cascades was a requirement to respond to what our actions are going to be regarding the cancelled game and a time limit to these actions. We responded to this requirement as required by the committee.
To date, although I have had numerous calls from Mike, Cascades have yet to offer a date for a re-arranged game.
I agree with you ML that this should have been dealt with a while ago and can assure you that, at least from our side, that the committee have all the information to make this happen and organise phase 2 of D1

Priory rules are easy.  No rearrangements (unless you are BH and your lights go out, of course Wink ).

But, if you don't want the points, don't claim them.

None of my business, really, except having a weaker team in the play-offs would help my chances in the fantasy league. Laughing

Perhaps if we claim them, Cascades come 3rd and they then don't need to bring out the top players to compete, so NB gets to play 1.  All the Rodmersham boys are happy then.

Well you can't say we tried to win it the easy way.

Not only have we agreed a very short notice match that we can't get out full side out against, we have also offered to play it at Rodmersham as Cascades can't get the courts for their own home game.

I bet they have the right players available though.

Rodmersham team:

John Brewer
Malcolm Parker
Tom Woods
Dave Rannard
Martin Clarke

I am sure OTH will keep with the British ideal of fair play and stick to his original promise of NB playing No1 as detailed in the forum at the beginning of the season  Surprised  Surprised  Wink That would mean with the rogue 8a player playing below NB, Stuart already beating TW in first half and the tight game between sicknote and MC in the first half, all could mean a 3-2 either way which will make it more exciting. Will it happen  Question

The Rodmersham boys should be commended for showing such patience and positiveness to get this match played AND it will be at their place. Smile

The stalling of Cascades was disgraceful. I think the committee need to toughen up again or other teams will start taking advantage. Mad

They just snuck it!!! Rodmersham 3rd

I think having seen the players tonight, not one of the Cascades players actually played in the right position, no2 should be 1, number 4 should be 3, number five should be 4 and number 3 should be 5, with no1 being 2...  I think this 8, 8a, 8b ,8c nomination should be looked at.

Oh well no excuses they beat us on the night, but we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, just like out game with BH in the first half.

We went 2:0 up, JB and Lardyboy both winning, Rannard, then went 2:0 up at 4, but lost out 3:2, MP lost 3:0 to their No1,  I mean 1 playing at 2 and then Martin and Stuart in the decider went 2:2............ At one point it looked like a 4:1 Rodmersham.

Martin 7:4 up didn't have the experience to close it out and lost 9:7 in the fifth.

A bloody good and tight match overall, and possibly the best outcome for us Rodders boys as we don't have the cash of the other sides to compete in the top 4.

Good summer squash though we have really enjoyed it, and I like the away games being at home, can we sort this out for the next match too.

Must admit lardyboys views above were voiced by more that one person last night and not only from the Rodders boys!!!

A very good game played in great spirit however, before the commencement of phase 2 Cascades seriously need to adhere to league rule 9: a) Teams must play in strict order of merit..........

Ben Coleman below Neil Baker Shocked , Charles Sharpe (1st game of the season Rolling Eyes ) below Neil Baker, debateable, below Mo never  Shocked  Shocked

Once again Rodders had to endure a 'ringer' bought in at the last minute when a quite healthy squad member was at the game watching Confused

Again congratulations to sicknote for his massive performance in coming back in the 5th against Martin clearly feeling the effects of a good holiday (great tan though Wink )

I don't usually get involved in things like this but I saw Charles Sharpes play in the Wimbledon lakeside tournament last weekend and with all due respect, the chances of you convincing me that Mo is a better player than him are ZILCH..

Hold on, hold on, me healthy Shocked May be in the bar but that's it Exclamation

Noms done at the beginning of the season, and I must admit for the winter there will be some changes. Great game last night and I have to say that I thought you had it Embarassed  No pro's used last night Very Happy  and a great evening of squash. Many, many thanks to all the rodders boys and in particular to Lardyboy's mum for the excellent food (I understand now why you're a lardboy Laughing ) and to HS for organising it.

I must add LB that you said we promised to play NB at 1 and at 1 he played. When we signed young BC I must admit I didn't realise quite how good he was Shocked  Unbelievable he only turned 17 in April Exclamation

Sharpie is only 16 and still has a lot to learn but he'll get there and will move up the order later, but I would have to point out that if I was going to make a point Dave R looks like he should be playing well up the order and not at 4 Shocked

Great evening and thanks once again to everybody.

OTH - what you don't realise is that DR has only played 3 or 4 proper singles matches in the last year, so not yet fit.  I agree he has the potential to play higher up the team, and I would gladly step aside for him just as I did for GH when he started playing better.

You picked you order when you got there last night, knowing full well what you were doing, Mo was onto a loser at any number (sorry Mo), so he went up the order with the true No3 moving down, luckily both nominated at 8 so no rules broken!  Nearly backfired though!

Perhaps we should have nominated our side as 1, 1a, 1b etc then we could pick our team when we got there too.

Anyway that aside, 3rd place isn't bad for a team of locals, we are happy to have pushed your hand picked squad all the way to last few points of the last match.

I don't want to interfere in this friendly OK rivalry (which seems to have spilled over into NWK. Wink   However, 8A is higher than 8 (according to P.C. and provided that P.C. was advised ahead of time).

'twill be fun to see how the BH and other nominations work out in the play-offs, too. Rolling Eyes

Sharpie, nominated 9, Mo's nominated 8 Exclamation  I hadn't planned on playing Mo and Sharpie on the same night. It was the lack of players which lead to this.

LB, the rules of the priory state that you CAN'T play players out of their nominated order Rolling Eyes  This is different from the OK league rule, so no I didn't change the team order when we got there and found out who you had playing Exclamation

Plus NB played 1 and I didn't bring any pro's down Exclamation I guess unless you get everything your own way or the other teams let you win, you're never going to be happy Laughing

Have a pop at us anyway Shocked

We don't mind that we lost, I have said it is better we came 3rd, I know you can't play out of order but honestly your team are nominated all over the place, so yes you are within the rules.  Good team selection perhaps, or just a lack of knowledge of your team and how good they are, surely you can't nominate players anywhere just because they are not going to play on the same night.

We are more than happy to have come 3rd, we don't mind losing to a better team at all.  We had a good match and we all enjoyed our games, it was close even with the funny nominations.  No complaints from us just observations, it would just be nice to have played the right order and seen what happened then.

No pop at you just my views on the team you selected, I can see you were perhaps stuck within the rules, perhaps this rule should be a bit more flexible?

Anyway, good luck in the next phase.
