Excellent result for Ted Jeal against John Brewer.
3/2 winning the last game 9-1.
Any match report? |

Well what can one say, if the matches were best of 1 we would have won 5-0!!
John went on 1st with Ted. Ted looking very uncomfortable with the newly refurbished courts and John taking it in his stride, even to the point at the end of the 3rd muted voices above were declaring that Ted would be lucky to get another point!!!! Well done Ted great come back.
Tom and Sam were on the other court again both struggling to adapt to the new courts . Tom came out 9-7 in the 1st then proceeded to sweep the court (and that was the end of Tom, far too much work in one day )
On court next was Malcolm and Lewis with the 1st 2 games strongly contested. But, as found many times this season Malcolm has shown his resilience and in the end Lewis was not able to find enough ammunition to gun down Malcolm, Malcolm 3-1.
Did not see Hunter V James but was told that James always seemed to have the right shots when it mattered, 3-1 James.
Next on was Dave V Ian. In fairness Dave really controlled this one from the beginning, even the loss to love in the 2nd was more his mistakes. If Dave carries on playing and getting match fit he will be at No 2 or 3 in the winter leagues, 3-1 Dave.
Thoroughly good games, with BCC deserving the win on the night, hope BCC did not get lost on the way home as they did on the way there (any further East and they would have required passports ) |

It was a good evening of squash but perhaps the refurbishment of the Rodmersham courts did not time in too well with this fixture. The courts were a bit slippery and I think everyone was on their back more than once in each match. That said, no injuries and all matches were played in good spirit.
It was a good result for Ted but John Brewer had just returned from a heavy weekend at the V Festival and was clearly not at his best as a result. John being the ultimate professional would never make excuses but it has to be said that this fixture came at a good time for young Jeal! Watch out Ted should you meet Brewer again any time soon because he'll be gunning for his revenge... and you'd be a brave man to bet against him!
A good evening of squash and good company. |
