So what's the deal with this tournament, are you saying anyone from any division can enter so long as they have played three times in the summer?
If so, I think you're going to have a massive entry especially with all those egos from the top divisions. Mind you, I think a few of us guys will take a few of those guys out.
Also, the prize money was great for the B tournament, without being cheeky is there anything up for grabs in this one? |

Yup, I've seen some of those so called top players and they aint that good. I'd reckon a dark horse will emerge the champ of this one. Besides, we're the ones with the experience of tournaments recently, and we know the scoring system. He he. |

I had so many players at the "B" Tournament asking if they could go in the "A". We couldn't see any reason why not.
The Competition is now known as the Priory Individual Closed Tournament with the "A" having been dropped for obvious reasons.
As regards a big entry, the closing date is this Saturday September 23. I've had a lot of verbal entries but very few paid so far. You're only in it once you've paid.
Prize money etc. will almost certainly at least match that of the "B" Tournament. |

Yikes!!! I better get the form in, can I drop it into Mr. Barrett please, I'm only round the corner.
What is the maximum entry you'll accept? |

Lovely, I need a new racket and could do with a bit of cash. Perhaps the plate beckons for me.
How many of your Division 1 & 2 blokes will actually go in for it? |

The closing date isn't particularly early (2 weeks before) considering the entry forms were sent out to the captains 3 weeks ago.
We need to know roughly how many people will enter so as to book the appropriate amount of courts in advance. Bexley won't be as flexible as Biggin Hill were.
The closer to the tournament you make the cut off date, the later the entries will be received and we don't want to have to work out the running schedule at the last minute.
The way people are talking, it looks like the entry will be around 50. I think that would be more than enough.
Anyone who attended the "B" Tournament will know that 30/32 was a decent amount and seemed to work well. |

Stells, have you ever thought of running a tournament and would you only want the big boys entering yours?
Would you set a limit on the entry size?
If I ran one I don't think the size would matter too much, as long as it was enjoyable. |

So you wouldn't want a lot of entries or would you simply spread them over a period of time? |

I love the fact that the first thing that people ask is "what is the prize money?"
Would it make any difference to the result or entry list if there was no money offered? |

Good point no. 5.
In all honesty, though, I don't believe that many of the "B" Tournament players gave it a second thought.
The main winner, Lee Greenwood, was genuinely surprised at his prize as were the other recipients of trophies etc.
Hopefully, to quote an old cliche, "it's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts". |

Currently I couldn't beat an egg as I am injured.
The people I would consider to be the top seeds would be David, Steven and Toby (If he has played three games)

Did Tim play 3 games in the Summer? Gary?
I presume you mean (and for the benefit of everyone else) Park Langley's Dave Harris, again PL's Steve London, and Biggin Hill's very own Toby Mortimer.
What about Sam Stabler, Louis Ryall and Mo Soliman? Can you think of anyone else (without being rude to those I've missed out?) |

Tim Garner played six times in the summer Priory. |

Closing date September 23. |

Who is this large Bexley? Is there no weight limit?
ML may be too busy or too tired from training to fill out the form.

Well No.5, my entry was early but not as early as John Lane (Laney), Richard Kimpton, and a number of others, as I found out last night.
Gary you should receive the rest of the Biggin Hill entries today/tomorrow.. |

Today (Saturday September 23) was the closing date for entries.
Although I've received 27 entries, not all have paid. Non-payment does not guarantee a place in the Tournament. No pay, no play.
NO PAYMENTS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE DAY.
It's a shame so very few of the "B" Tournament players have entered this Competition considering the enthusiasm shown over last weekend. |

If you're so sure this division 2 player will win, what difference would the seedings make? |

If you have what is in effect the semil final in the 2nd round, and then the effctive final in the quarter final, this could affect the overall result. You would agree that seedings are there to ensure matches become increasingly harder?
This does make a difference, trust me, I have played on the pro tour. |

Of course I understand why there is a seeding system. I hope you can appreciate that doing the seeding is quite difficult and not everyone will agree with the outcome.
I shall be asking various people, who play in the higher divisions, of their opinions.
I have no intention of "messing it up" as you seem to fear. |

Apologies PC for the way that came across, it wasn't meant to insinuate you would mess it up. From what I've hear about your tournament organization, it's very good.
I think Dave Harris will win it if he doesn't meet a top level player in the early rounds. Not to say he will lose early, but more to say it will be harder for him to beat the players if he's had consecutive monster matches. |

Just spoken to Simon wanford and he'll be getting his form and money in the post tonight, I take it we want to get this up to 32 players?
And yes, would love to see who's in it so far.
I believe the following are definite:
Matt Badger
Clive London
Mark Lennox
Gordon McManus
John Lane
Mark Steedon (judging from your interest)
Ash Taleb
Simon Wanford (when entry in) |

Had you thought about offering the 'new signings' an exemption from the qualifying criteria? One way for ML to get a look at them before the season (so he knows what strength team to field).
Presumably the Bexley boys will be favourites for this home game and seeding will reflect? |

JJ, that's not a bad shout actually. That means the teams from T Wells and any brand new signings (from bexley especially) will be eligible. Would make the numbers if we're short. |

I believe that there are legal precedents for this. e.g. Moving entry deadlines; Allowing Div 3/4/5 players into the 'A' (sorry, 'Main') tournament.
Could they not go on the 'Cancellations List'? |
