It's not certain but there are pretty strong rumours to suggest the Premier League/Superleague may not run this season due to a lack of clubs entering.
If you weren't aware, the Premier league runs over the whole of Kent and consists of teams including Rodmasham, Maidstone, Bexley, Park Langly, Whitstable just to name a few. The level of the league is probably one division above our Division 1 within the Priory.
So my thinking is this.. If the premier doesn't run, what happens to all those top level players? We're talking people like Neil Baker, Colin Payne, Graham Appleby, Tom Woods, the list runs into about 40 players - most of them very good.
Surely the Priory could swallow this up? Why not invite these teams into the Priory and adjust the divisions accordingly. Rumour has it the Priory is extending the divisions from 5 - 6, so why not 6 to 7?
Okay some of the matches are a little further away but heck does that matter? It's only the away ones that are a bit of a treck, but isn't it worth it for the better matches, increased number of divisions, and overall support for Kent squash?
Well these are just my Sunday evening thoughts. Gary I'd be eager to hear your thoughts and of course anyone else that might have an opinion, please speak up..
Cheers
Mark

I don't know where Rodmasham is. Is it near Rodmersham?
Joking aside, if these teams/clubs want to join the Priory League that's absolutely fine, but they'll have to hurry up with their entries.
Being a forever improving player P-B, you probably could contact someone within these higher ranking sides and let me know.
There you go, something else for you to do!

Ah yes Rodmersham is what I meant..
Yes of course I'd be happy to contact the powers that be and try to encourage these teams in.
Meanwhile if there is anyone from these teams that knows a little more about the future of the superleague please feel free to pipe up.
Cheers

According to Graham Appleby, the Superleague will not be running due to a lack of entrants.
It would seem that the teams who would have competed, are now filtering into the respective leagues depending on location - i.e. Priory or Outer Kent league.
So that ends that one really. |
