Call me a chicken here but for what I’m going to say surely doesn't need to me to divulge my name.

I don't know about you but I enjoy my squash on a Tuesday night. The vast majority of people are good blokes, the games are marked fairly, food is good and the beers always go down a treat.

I do however have a problem with opponents who take the game so personally. I've been called a cheat, been sworn at, felt the wind of a racket go past my head. I mean for gods sake is it really needed?

I know it's a passionate game but this sort of behaviour has to be dealt with and we all too often see the opposing captain doing nothing about this. Surely they should be having a quiet word and stopping it.

Also, has the league ever received complaints? If so, what has been done about it? is there a procedure that is followed? Do they turn a blind eye?

It's the same bloody people all the time and each time I know the volcano is about to erupt.

Am I being petty or have other people had to deal with this????

Have you reported any of the incidents to the league before? I would if I were you then it's up to them to speak with the club, the captain and the player. I think they might have the power to deduct points or even kick a club out of the league. Only trouble is the reception you might receive from the next meet wouldn't be too good!

Nope I've not reported it to the league, but as mentioned before, I also don't know what they could do about it.

Perhaps if the league could tally the amount of complaints about certain individuals, it would become obvious that these people should be warned, and then action taken.

If you don't make a complaint to the Priory Committee, how can they possibly act on anything?

Ok fine if I did report it, what action could actually be taken? What has happened in the past?

As far as I can remember, there have been only four written complaints received by the Priory Committee within the last ten years. After investigation, all of these resulted in severe warnings leading to no further action being necessary.

However, should it transpire that the current perpetrators are any of the previously warned people, the Committee, if informed, would certainly act accordingly.

We appreciate that nobody particularly wants to have to report these players but, if we're not told, what can we do?

I appreciate you can't do anything if not told but I think people don't know what can be done so they don't bother telling you.

Can you exclude players from paying in the league? Could you impose temporary bans?

What a lot of people don't realise is that the Priory League is open by invitation of the Priory League Committee.

The rules are on the website and rule 10b reads :- "The Priory League Committee has full powers in all disciplinary matters to suspend sine die any individual player, team or club."

Now that you know what can be done, it is down to you people out there to inform us of any problems.

In that case I'll see how the rest of the season goes and when I come up against 'him' again, i'll be sure to let you know if he misbehaves.

Perhaps when might even read this and be on his guard!

Thanks for your response.

We appreciate anything that guarantees the continued smooth running of our League.

Let me assure you that, as a Committee, we are not feckless.
