A young O’rent boy, about fifteen, walked along the shore line of Lake O’Dea. The boy had the sharp defining looks of one in royalty, but wore the clothing of a village slave. The boy walked along the shore picking up sticks and larger pieces of wood for the community fire that night where the village council would present the latest news to the citizens of the small community. After that there would be feasting and singing and all sorts of marry activity.

As the boy reached the part of the lake that was faced with a cliff on one side of the bank an unknown force pulled her towards an opening in the wall not big enough to be a cave but big enough to stick his hand in. He bent down to where it was and in one hand holding the wood he stretched out his free hand into the hole and pulled out a purple egg. As soon as he touched it the egg began to thrum in a low steady beat he shifted the egg to rest on the pile of sticks and reached in again, this time pulling out an egg that was pink again that one thrummed as soon as she touched it. Two minor dragon eggs, one purple and one pink, what have I read in Master Sarkan’s study about minor dragons, one they hatch about a month after they quicken, two they have different abilities according to color, and that’s all I know. I should talk to master once I get back. The boy thought, a female voice broke his musings, “Collin, Colin where are you, there’s a man in master Sarkans office looking to buy you.” Came the women’s voice over the hill. Wanting to buy me why would any one want to buy me? Oh well if it gets me out of this dingy old city, who cares. Said Collin to himself, he turned and answered the woman, “I’m here mistress Sarkan, but who wants to buy me?” Collin asked hoping to get a straight answer.

A Marione woman, about fifty years of age, came around the cliff side. She eyed Collin for a minute and said, “that I do not know, Master Sarkan sent one of the stable boys to come fetch me to get you, now get off the ground, I’ll take the bundle, you go up to master Sarkan.”

Colin hurriedly swiped the dragon eggs off the bundle of wood and put them in his pocket so she couldn’t see them, he bowed slightly and without a word he left. The women can’t oven gibe a straight answer. Collin thought in frustration.

A few minutes later Collin was standing in front of Master Sarkans office door. He heard the sound of two men talking, “well everything seems to be in order, Sir Ederass, just the mater of pay, I believe twenty ruck was the agreed on price for the boy.” Master Sarkans voice said through the door. Before he heard any more Collin opened the door and stepped in to the Marion masters office, the room was eight by six and the walls had books and pictures covering the walls, the floor was covered on a fine oak wood, in the front of the room was a desk with a few papers strewn al over it and a quill in an ink bottle at the corner of it, in front of the desk where two chairs one of them holding a tall O’rent man in elegant clothing that matched his sapphire red hair. The man looked up at Collin and said, “ah, you must be Collin, I am Sir Ederass, and you dear boy have been chosen to be a servant in my court.” He announced putting out his hand to shake.
Collin took the hand and said “I would be honored to serve you Sir Ederass. But might I be so bold as to ask why you have chosen me?” Collin inquired, releasing the man’s hand.

“you may, you are no longer a slave dear boy you are a servant now you have more freedom to question, when appropriate of course, more freedom to learn not just sneak into your masters study and read books you can hardly understand.” Said Sir Ederass with a smile, “the reason I have chosen you is because of the talent you just discovered down near the lake, and a few more soon to be discovered.” The man continued, master Sarkan looked bewildered by the whole statement and said “the money sir? We both have lives to conduct.” He inquired holding out his hand

“ah yes of course, now where did I put that coin purse” said Sir Ederass patting his cloak “ah here it is.” The man said pulling out a small purse of coins form an inside pocket on the cloak. He handed the purse to Master Sarkan and turned to Collin “now that that is taken care of lets go to the tavern shall we. We’ll spend the night here and leave in the morning.
