The Cleveland Indians have scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference at Progressive Field. They did not reveal the reason for the press conference, but said GM Mark Shapiro, Chris Antonetti, assistant general manager, and a player from the 25-man roster would participate. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

They're keeping it secret, then they're spilling it... here's what the press conference will be about:

Cleveland Indians sign Fausto Carmona to a multiyear deal

The Indians have called a 3 p.m. press conference to announce the signing of right-hander Fausto Carmona to a four-year deal.
The deal could become a seven-year agreement if the Indians exercise club options in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Carmona, 24, won 19 games last season in his first full year in the big leagues. He finished second in the American League to John Lackey of the Angels in ERA and fourth in the Cy Young voting. Teammate and fellow 19-game winner, C.C. Sabathia, won the Cy Young.
This year Carmona is 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA in two starts. He could be the Tribe's ace next year if Sabathia leaves through free agency at the end of this season.
In his first start of 2008, Carmona held the White Sox to one run on four hits over seven innings. He was credited with the Tribe's 7-2 victory. On the Indians just completed six-game West Coast trip, Carmona started against the Angels on Monday night and allowed one unearned runs in six innings in a 6-4 loss.
The deal is a big turnaround for Carmona. In 2006, Carmona went 1-10 in 38 appearances, including seven starts. Carmona bounced from set-up man to closer to starter. He lost 10 straight games along the way.
Last month in spring training, Carmona signed a split contract, which paid him $457,800 in the big leagues and $228,000 in the minor leagues. His new deal will make that one moot. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

Yay! I really like Fausto so I'm really glad we got him to sign a deal with us. Because if heaven forbid..C.C. leaves at least we do still have Fausto. _________________
