· Quote

ANAHEIM -- When Pronk got plunked Wednesday afternoon, he found it perplexing.

The Indians were down, 9-5, and an out away from losing, with nobody on base. It was no time for Angels reliever Justin Speier to work around Hafner.

Of course, Speier was the same pitcher who had served up a game-winning homer to Hafner in the same inning the night before. So when Speier's 1-1 fastball hit Pronk in his arthritic right elbow, how would Hafner describe it?

"Strange is probably a good word," Pronk said with a smile. "Curious. I don't know. I don't know what he was doing or what his intentions were."

Speier didn't address the issue after the game.

After getting hit, Hafner dutifully trotted to first base without making a scene. He wasn't hurt, but make no mistake -- he was angry.

"When you get hit, your normal reaction is to get an adrenaline rush and get angry," he said.

Manager Eric Wedge didn't sound entirely pleased, either.

"It didn't look too good, did it?" Wedge said. "But you never know."

Wedge, whose Indians have already been hit by seven pitches this season, was asked if this is one the Indians will remember when they face the Angels again in July.

"It's hard to categorize something like that," Wedge said.

I'm surprised getting hit is strange to him. I'd think he'd be used to it.

I think our entire team would be used to it, lol...with Grady and Ryan at the top of the list last year...and especially with our team leading it with I believe 10 hits now...maybe 11.

Yeah, Carroll got hit today. I don't think that guy could be more in the batters box. But the point I was making about Pronk is that it seems like everyone hits the guy.

Oh yeah that's right, because they then said today's a day you don't want to get hit even though it looked like it just brushed his jersey...

Do you know how many hits he had last year?  I can probably look it up...but I didn't know if you knew off the top of your head...Pronk that is..

Not off the top of my head. But the guy might as well have a target on his jersey.
