AP-MLB: Blue Jays-Thomas Released
Blue Jays release slumping DH Frank Thomas
TORONTO (AP) - The Toronto Blue Jays have released slumping designated hitter Frank Thomas, cutting the 19-year veteran loose one day after he was angry for being taken out of the lineup.
General manager J.P. Ricciardi (rih-CHAR'-dee) says he and Thomas came to "a mutual agreement" after meeting in the clubhouse earlier today.
Ricciardi says the club's best opportunity "is to put other guys in the lineup at this point."
The move leaves the Blue Jays on the hook for the remainder of the two-year, 18-million dollar contract the 39-year-old Thomas signed in November 2006.
Thomas was hitless in his past 13 at-bats and had gone 4-for-35 since homering in three straight games April 5-8th.
Thomas was hitting .167 with three homers and 11 RBIs. He's 18th on the all-time home run list with 516.

Yeah his slumping is like J-Mike's numbers....so hmmm....lol I understand why they let him go, just wonder who's going to pick him up now, or if anyone will.

I know he's kinda old, but he's not that bad (I feel he's just in a slump). He wouldn't be a bad pick-up for someone to sign just for the rest of the year.

Rick Manning just said that he thinks he'll get picked up in no time, and something about how it wouldn't be a bad pick up for the Twins.

I head something about that on a website or something that the Twins will most likely pick him up..I dunno if it's true or not though..hmm..
