Something about them being retarded...lol...I can't find one person who likes Marte...the word defense is not in his vocab, and offense....he may have hit the ball once... _________________

I agree that he has been stinking the joint up. That's why they need to give him some reasonably extended time to put up or be sent down. Maybe they should work Barfield out at third in Buffalo and see how he does. |

I'm not sure about Barfield at 3rd... but I guess you have to try first. If anything I'd either put Carroll at 3 or move Jhonny over and have Carroll/Asdrubal/Barfield move around between short and second. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

That's what's great about Carroll, he is a true utility infielder. I would be a little hesitant about Peralta at 3rd because of his quickness and range. With him at third, the shortstop would have to be of Vizquel caliber. Speaking of Omar, he's reportedly a few weeks away from returning to the Giants from injury rehab. |

Although Marte made a good play today, I still don't like him.
I think for the infield it should be Garko at first, Carroll/Barfield at second, AC at short, and Blake at third.. _________________

I'm with you on this one. I really like the sound of that, but I doubt it would ever happen. It could also work with Peralta at third and sticking Blake in the outfield. |

If Casey's going to play, it needs to be at third. He's a third baseman at heart and that's where he's best. I don't like him in the outfield, although he adjusted fantastically. I also don't think we have anyone else who can make some of the plays he does at third. Also, overall the team isn't amazing. There are a few players who could use a kick in the pants as Michele said. I'd like to see Barfield up here, but I don't see it happening soon. I also don't know how he would do at third, but anything is worth a try at this point. I'm with most everyone else on hating Marte, get rid of him already. I like Michaels, so I hope he ends up in Buffalo. But right now, and god forbid I ever say this again, Dellucci is doing okay and I don't hate him as much. I like Michaels so much more, but he definitely needs to step it up, although he's not the only one. Pronk is one of my favorite players and I would hate to see him go. But he's never going to return to what he was before Buehrle hit him and that's disappointing. I never really thought he was on anything, but now that Michele mentioned it, I could definitely see it as a possibility, as much as I hate to admit that. Carroll has been an amazing addition and I think he adds depth to our infield. Not to mention he's got speed. He really is a great utility guy, but I'd like him to stay a utility man. Jhonny is a short stop and nothing else. We need him there because I don't see anyone else having a range like he does. Sure he could use to step it up, but not as much as some guys. He's one of the better ones right now. I'm really glad Francisco is back up, I hope he gets a chance to prove himself. We can really use him out there with Sizemore and Gutierrez. Now that's and outfield I like. Okay, I'm done now. That's how I feel about everything that's been said and it's purely my opinion. I like this debate we've got going on here. _________________ --Alex-- |

Casey definitely is better suited as a third baseman... I agree with that. But he played better in the outfield than anyone should have expected. And Johnny has been doing a lot better at short this year and most of last year. I used to call him Jhonny "no range" Peralta... but he's been making plays I never dreamed he would. Michaels is a good guy, but that doesn't make him a good baseball player. He just hasn't been doing well offensively. His defense is good... better than Dellucci, but his offense was killing us. Dellucci's defense isn't stellar, but it works for me. His offense has saved us quite a few times. I think if anything getting rid of Michaels may at least give the other guys some incentive to step it up knowing if they don't they could be next. The biggest problem for us is we have so many guys that are fabulous defensively (ie: Cabrera, Carroll, Barfield, Franklin) but their offense just isn't there. Once the offense gets on track we'll be upstoppable... but we need to get something started already, I can't stand this. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

I know exactly where you're coming from. Someone has to be sacrificed to set an example, and with Francisco, Michaels is a good choice. I'll be sad to see him go, but if it helps it's definitely worth it. It's not like I've never been in this situation before. And we do have some great guys, but the offense is really suffering. If something doesn't happen soon, it could be ugly this year. _________________ --Alex-- |

Well I'm not gonna lie, it's already ugly... lol. I would say it can't get any worse, but if I do then our defense will blow too. My question is if it doesn't get any better, who's next (out of our regular players, Marte not included)? I don't want to say this, but I think we need to dump Pronk if things don't get better. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

I don't wanna say it and I don't wanna hear it, but you may be right. I mean, they can either pick up a new DH, or alternate bench guys to get something to work. Let's face it, the guys been in one long slump basically. _________________ --Alex-- |

He's been in a slump for about a year and a half now, and I can count his clutch hits in that period of time on one hand. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

Yeah, I think that might put him on the chopping block next. But hopefully the Michaels/Francisco move will shake things up. And make something good happen. _________________ --Alex-- |
