Did you all catch the second game tonight??

CLEVELAND -- Cliff Lee must be living right.
As if his infinitesimal ERA wasn't enough proof, Lee was the beneficiary of one of baseball's rarest and most special plays on Monday night. In the fifth inning of Game 2 of a doubleheader with the Blue Jays at Progressive Field, second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera turned an unassisted triple play in Lee's favor.

The Jays had Kevin Mench on second, Marco Scutaro on first and Lyle Overbay at the plate. With both runners going on a hit-and-run, Overbay hit a sinking liner up the middle that Cabrera dove for and caught. Cabrera then tagged second to retire Mench and tagged Scutaro for the third out.

How rare is the unassisted triple play? Well, this was only the 14th in Major League history, including postseason play. It was the first since the Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki pulled off the feat on April 29, 2007, against the Braves.

This was just the third triple play turned in the Tribe's long history and only the club's second in the regular season. Infielder Neal Ball turned one on July 19, 1909. The last time it happened came Oct. 10, 1920, when Bill Wambsganss turned one in Game 5 of the World Series against the Brooklyn Robins.

**Go AC!!!**

I witnessed that play LIVE.  My second triple play I've seen at the ballpark in two years.  My friend was overjoyed by that plus his homerun in the first game.  I guess her favorite player gets to have a good
game(s) when we are at the ballpark sometimes.  I guess she should wear his shirt more often.  Grady was special Saturday for me and Drubie for my friend today.

Did anyone see Gut's catch from the top of the ninth that pretty much saved Lee from the loss.  I got to see Grady slap Gut's butt which was a plus.  And as Gut came in Cliff tipped his hat to him.

My brother said that Asdrubal's double and triple play were #1 on Baseball Tonight and Gut's catch was #2.

I was there too, and even though we lost the second one, man we had amazing defense!  I was so amazed by some of the plays we had.  Too bad no offense for the second game...all used up in the first game apparently...or it was the fact that no one likes Marte and he was in the game....maybe that had something to do with it...I mean that bad call did happen right before he was at bat...with the ump making Gutie go back to third and not letting him score....yeah....

I was there in person for the triple play last year, I'm just happy I could at least watch it live (on tv) this time.

It always seems that when we get bases loaded, Marte is always up, and I don't think he's ever done anything when that happened.  I think that was our big chance.  My friend wanted Casey to pinch hit then and I said that would really show that we didn't trust Marte.  I guess I didn't realize what happened with Gut having to go back to third.

Well, doesn't he realize that spring training hits don't count?!  He needs to do something in the REGULAR season.

Marte just sucks and we need to let him go!  BADLY!!!!  Seriously....if this doesn't happen I'll cry.
But anyway, it's good to hear that like people on ESPN are giving AC credit for what he did.

I totally agree.  I've heard an argument that we are keeping him around since we don't have anyone to replace Casey at third next year.  I say pay what you need to keep Casey around.  Get rid of Marte!  I cringe whenever I hear that he is playing.

I saw a replay of the triple play on the news today and I noticed how Peralta pointed to the player as if to say tag him.  Like AC needed the help.

I was thinking AC didn't realize they were running, but the guy behind me insisted that AC is an idiot and Jhonny is way better and has to show him the ropes....
