They're so close Ladies, make sure you get all your votes in!!!

Pair of Indians hoping for All-Star bids
06/09/2008 12:10 PM ET
By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com

CLEVELAND -- Two members of the Indians' lineup remain in contention for an All-Star starting berth, but they're going to need a lot of help from the voters.
In the latest batch of American League ballot results released Monday, catcher Victor Martinez remained fifth among catchers, behind Jason Varitek of the Red Sox, Joe Mauer of the Twins, Ivan Rodriguez of the Tigers and Jorge Posada of the Yankees.

Grady Sizemore is now 10th among the candidates for the three outfield spots after landing in the 11th spot last week and the eighth spot the week before.

Travis Hafner, who is on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder, had ranked fifth among designated hitters last week, but he fell out of the top five this time.

The 79th Major League Baseball All-Star Game, being held at Yankee Stadium in its final season, will be televised nationally by FOX, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD, and televised around the world by Major League Baseball International, with pregame ceremonies beginning at 8 p.m. ET. ESPN Radio will provide exclusive national radio coverage, while MLB.com will provide extensive online coverage. XM will provide satellite radio play-by-play coverage of the XM All-Star Futures Game.

The Midsummer Classic will be the fourth held at Yankee Stadium and the eighth in New York City. The Yankees previously hosted the All-Star Game in 1939, '60 and '77; the Polo Grounds held the game in '34 and '42; Ebbets Field was the site in '49; and Shea Stadium hosted the '64 tilt.

Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times with the Monster 2008 All-Star Game Online Ballot at MLB.com and all 30 club sites until Wednesday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Starting rosters will be announced during the 2008 All-Star Game Selection Show presented by Chevrolet on TBS on Sunday, July 6. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the Monster 2008 All-Star Final Vote at MLB.com.

And the voting doesn't end there. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in the official voting for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player presented by Chevrolet at the All-Star Game via the Monster 2008 All-Star Game MVP vote at MLB.com

If Martinez or Sizemore is elected by the fans, it would be the third time either player has been selected to represent the AL.

Bruce Drennan said that Cliff Lee is definitely going to be repping us, but I think that's common sense.. 10-1? Yeah..

That show is weird, he gets all worked up and dramatic as he sits there talking with himself.   He needs a co-host... and to tone it down a bit, it's not a soap opera.

He does really get worked up, but I think that's why I love watching, because the littlest thing will set him off!

Sizemore stands alone in voting
But injured Martinez and Hafner slip out of top five
By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com

Grady Sizemore is looking to make his third consecutive trip to the All-Star Game.

CLEVELAND -- And then there was one.
Grady Sizemore is now the only Indians player among the leaders at his position in the latest American League All-Star balloting totals, released on Monday. Last week, the injured Travis Hafner fell out of the top five among designated hitters. This week, the injured Victor Martinez fell out among catchers.

So that leaves Sizemore, and he's slipping, as well. Last week, Sizemore ranked 10th among AL outfielders. This week, he's 12th.

Sizemore has represented the Indians at the All-Star Game each of the last two years.

Congrats to Grady for being an All-Star yet again! Also big congrats to Cliff! Cliff should get the start but may have to decline cuz he'll only be on two days rest.  I'm hoping Grady will do the HR derby!

Well, I would like to see Grady do the homerun derby, but I've heard that sometimes it messes up a player's swing.  If that's true, I won't be too upset if he declines.

I thought Tom Hamilton said that Lee would be set up to pitch the all star game since he would pitch on Friday.

Yeah they said on the radio that Cliff would pitch a few days before the All-Star game so he should be fine.  But congrats to both!

I know he's set to start on Saturday so I hope that's enough rest for him!!! I'd love to see him start!

**Editing myself here...for some reason I thought he was set to start on Saturday, but he'll actually pitch on Friday.
