I know that myself and Michele are trying to plan a trip out there!!! We have no idea though of dates yet. We're likely going to be flying though cuz driving will take wayyyyy too long and I doubt I can take that long off of work. It'll likely be like a Wednesday through Sunday for us. But again, no idea of the dates yet.
Anyone else going out? _________________

Andrea, I'm bringing you with me this summer for ST '09. I hope you can fit in my suitcase, because you need to go get your picture with a certain someone and set THAT as your backround. _________________

Hi, Ladies!
Hope you can help me, and sorry for the questions.
Since the season is over, and I am now in withdrawl!!, I had been starting to plan ahead to attend some games in Cleveland. Since it's going to be expensive for me, and since I have a majority of my schedule for 2009 planned towards the end of this year, I was looking at plans to attend a weekend home game series up by all of you!
First, is it difficult to purchase tickets for a single game, or do the games usually sell out before the season starts? If there usually are tickets available, is there a certain team that causes the Indians stadium to sell out (for example, like when the Browns play Pittsburg, or when Ohio State plays Michigan). What times of the year are less crowded as far as attendance is concerned? I most likely would be attending a game sometime between the end of May through August since I am usually super busy with traveling to dog agility trials in the spring. Are the summer games less crowded than the spring ones?
Also, there is a slight possibility I might go to see some of the spring training in Arizona as I have good friends that live in Mesa that I can stay with. How does spring training work? I see they play a series of games. Do you guys just get to see the games or do you see the everyday practice? Is it hard to get tickets to spring training? I saw briefly on the Indians website that you can put a deposit down for spring training games (i.e. a package deal), but obviously I can't do that since I can only attend on a weekend. How does all of that work?
This is all assuming I can get a fairly decent airline rate. Money is going to be tight for me next year with all of my travels, plus I bought a new car a few weeks ago, so I have that as well.
But, I found a hotel 1 block away from Progressive Field which is ideal and if I have time, I might try to see some of my relatives up there. I see that they offer tours behind the scenes of Progressive Field so if I can get someone to cover a Thursday shift for me I can go to the Friday tour! Super cool!!!!!!!!! Wow. It's been so long since I've been up there. I am super excited about going and with work being real stressful lately, it gives me something fun to look forward to (if I ignore the money issue. LOL!)
Any insights you have I would appreciate!!
Lorrie

Ok Lorrie,
Let me see if I can help you out a bit. From my experience, you really don't have to worry about games selling out too much. The only times I really had problems were on big promotion nights such as Grady bobblehead (where I had to sit in the very top row) and Grady blanket, etc. I would think that teams that are considered our rivals, such as the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, etc would have more people than some other teams.
I would say earlier in the year (April and May) or later in year (Aug & Sept) were when the crowds were down. The Indians are trying something new in 2009 with the ticket prices. They realized that all games are equal as well so they staggered pricing. Here's a link from the Indians site that can show you: http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/cle/ticketing/ebrochure/season_seatingpricing.jsp If you click the the categories such as "Spring Super Savers" it will tell you which dates are under them.
Sorry, haven't been to spring training (I'm dying to go and was planning for FL this past year but didn't work and now not have the money) so I can't help you there but plenty of girls here have gone. I did go on the Prog. Field tour this past summer for free and it was AWESOME! I got to sit in the Indians dugout.
Hopefully this is helpful and I'm not rambling. Good luck and hope to see you in 2009!
