If he's hurt I'd rather them sit him now and let him get better than push it and get hurt worse. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

Not that I want to see Grady on the DL, but if he is injured I'd rather him sit and get better than to keep making his elbow worse with every swing or throw he takes. We need Grady!! Not just for his looks, but for his hits & fielding and if he is not 100% then we need to make it so he can return to his normal self.
In the last few games I've seen with Grady he doesn't seem to be in pain when at bat, he is getting hits, RBI's & runs himself, but if they're saying his elbow is still bad then its still bad & he's just being Grady & playing through the pain.
We appreciate it Grady, but we want you at 100%. _________________

It does the team no good to have him DH. Swinging a bat aggravates the elbow injury. Taking arguably the team's best defensive player out of CF, a vital defensive position, has a negative effect on team defense. Put him on the DL and hopefully rest and meds will get him able to play at 100% or close to it. |

from Indians.com:
By Lisa Winston / MLB.com
05/31/09 10:52 AM ET
The Cleveland Indians placed outfielder Grady Sizemore on the 15-day disabled list Sunday morning, marking the first time in his career the outfielder had gone on the DL. They recalled versatile catcher/infielder/outfielder Chris Gimenez from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot.
Sizemore went on the DL with left elbow synovitis (inflammation of the elbow) and will be eligible to return June 15. He was hitting .223 with 11 doubles, nine homers and 31 RBIs in 49 games but had been plagued by elbow soreness all season.
In his four full seasons prior to 2009, he'd never played fewer than 157 games in a year.
This will mark the Major League debut for Gimenez, a 19th-round pick by the Indians in 2004 out of Nevada. Used primarily a catcher, he has also seen time at third base, first base and the outfield and brought a career .270 average over five seasons into the 2009 campaign.
Gimenez was batting .235 with eight doubles and six homers in 39 games for the Clippers, but was hitting .289 in May. _________________ ~*Michele*~ |

Get better soon Grady! & good luck to Gimenez. Although I'm sad that Grady is on the DL whatever is best for him, is best for the team & the fans!! Hopefully this break will help him get back to 100% & will also help him with the pain that he is feeling.
Feel better!! _________________

Yeah, I guess they were trying to wait as long as possible to see if it healed on its own. I'm just hoping he doesn't need surgery. Get better soon, Grady! And we probably can add Raffie Right to the list too. Seems that when it rains it pours for the Indians and right now it's looking like a monsoon. _________________

i am really hoping we can win the next 3 series because that would be HUGE for us trying to crawl our way back up to the top of the division. whoever isn't hurt and plays needs to bring their freaking A++ game. _________________

From what I was hearing yesterday during the game it looks like our boy is gonna need surgery. I am devastated! I can't believe that it is this serious. I'm nervous for him, veryyyy nervous! They said he could be out for 4-5 weeks & that he may or may not need surgery.. Lets hope for the best!!
Good luck G!!!!! _________________

i didn't get to hear all that cause the game was on the Yankee channel here and the Yankee announcers were talkin smack about LeBron not shaking hands after their loss Saturday. i was like STFU. i'm sick of hearing ppl go off about that. so wait, he's out 4-5 weeks for now and then if he needs surgery he'll be out an additional 46 weeks? is this correct? _________________

Ok, well right now from what I hear they are not sure it will be surgery, just giving it rest. They are giving him 2 weeks from the day he went on the DL to see how it does. Hopefully it will settle down and respond to treatment with him stopping even batting. If not he will have to have surgery which would mean another 4-6 weeks, probably closer to 6. I really hope it heals like Laffey's did and no surgery is needed. I don't want him out for 2 months!

Holy hell.. 46 weeks & I would have been the most depressed girl on the planet this summer! Let's hope that Grady's tough little booty can pull through on this 2 week break & come back minus the surgery!! Get better soon. _________________
