ANYWHO just thought I post that background info from the article page.
"Grady Sizemore, OF, Indians: Sizemore is on the DL, but how long will he be there? Will he return when eligible, or will he end up facing an arthroscopic procedure on his elbow? Those are the big questions.
We already know the answer to the first part of that second question. This recovery process will take longer than two weeks, even if he doesn't have surgery. The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the plan for Sizemore is to limit him to rest and treatment for two weeks, and after that cooling-off period, Sizemore will test the elbow by throwing a ball and swinging a bat. If the symptoms linger, surgery will be the next option.
Pay close attention this week. The answer will make itself apparent in the next few days as Sizemore hits the two-week mark, and there are reasons to be concerned that this might end up a surgical situation. First, Sizemore's elbow has bothered him all season. Chronic inflammation, which usually implies changes in the soft tissue, rarely resolves within two weeks. Sure, Sizemore will feel better while resting, but the true test will come when he tries to restart baseball activity. Second, his symptoms are reportedly most aggravated with elbow extension. If he wants to play, that's something he absolutely cannot avoid, and in fact needs to perform forcefully.
Despite the "no structural damage" MRI report, Sizemore's symptoms, as noted above, are suggestive of changes in the soft tissue as a result of repetitive activity. Surgery would mean an additional six weeks of absence. Sizemore's fantasy owners should take preparations and seek insurance."

Man oh man!! I really hope that he gets better, & I also really, really hope that surgery is not needed. Our poor Grady, its so sad seeing him hurt & not in the game.
Thanks for the share. I was wondering what the update was on the injury!
P.S. I love your siggy!! It's amaaaziinnnggg! _________________
I guess the trainer, Soloff, updated the media on the conditions of the players on the DL today. Although not much was said on Grady, here is what the indians beat reporter, Anthony Castrovince, stated about Grady in his blog:
"Grady Sizemore's elbow pain has subsided in some areas, but he's still feeling it on the joint. He'll stay away from baseball activities for the next five days and have an MRI on Monday. The Indians still hope to avoid arthroscopic surgery on Sizemore. That surgery would cost him an additional four to six weeks."
Tom Hamilton stated that Grady is seeming to be better, but it's hard to tell until he actually does something baseball related such as swing a bat or throw. _________________

this sounds like something that's gonna come and go for a long time. kinda reminds me of Pronk. i think he shoulda just had the surgery straight from the jump and then he'd almost be halfway through the recovery process by now. people need to learn not to be afraid to admit when they're hurt or sick and get it taken care of asap. him trying to play through it only ended up making things worse. i totally see him ending up needing that surgery and if that does happen, then like i said, he's already wasted a significant period of time. maybe i'm making it out to be more serious than it is, but i just have a feeling it is pretty serious. _________________

Thanks for the update Deb!! That is really scary to think that Grady is sick & I mean actually hurt!?! Like I can't even remember the last time he was out of this MANY games, it's really making me nervous and to me I think that their keeping something from us about his injury! Of course they don't want the fans to freak, but just let us know & tell us the truth. I'm with Marie, I think it is very serious & I think that people know this they're just not telling the MEDIA. Ughhh, I'm so sick over this! _________________
Yep. I hope the MRI shows negative
anywho, here's the AP article about the MRI scheduled for Monday.
Quote:
CLEVELAND -- Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore is feeling better and will have an MRI on his strained left elbow on Monday.
Sizemore was injured during spring training and played through pain until he was placed on the disabled list on May 31. He is batting .223 with nine homers and 31 RBIs in 49 games this season.
"Seven days into his shutdown, Grady's elbow has responded favorably and as expected," trainer Lonnie Soloff said before Cleveland's game against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. "He has incrementally increased his range of motion."
Soloff said Monday's MRI exam and what Sizemore says about the amount of pain he's experiencing will determine whether the three-time Gold Glove winner will have surgery.
Indians right-hander Anthony Reyes, out since May 23 with an inflamed right elbow, has decided to have season-ending surgery. Dr. Lewis Yocum will perform the operation on Friday in Los Angeles.
While Reyes is done for the year, right-hander Jake Westbrook is inching closer to returning to the Indians.
Westbrook is scheduled to pitch four or five innings at Double-A Akron on Thursday -- the one-year anniversary of his Tommy John surgery. He worked three scoreless innings Saturday in his first rehab outing.
Left-handers Scott Lewis and Aaron Laffey are also on their way back from injuries. Lewis, out since April 11 with a strained left elbow, is scheduled to work three innings or 50 pitches at Class A Lake County on Thursday in his first rehab outing, while Laffey, sidelined since May 23 with a strained right oblique, could go on a rehab assignment soon.
"Aaron threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is scheduled for a 40-pitch session Thursday," Soloff said. "If all goes well from here, he could be back with the big league team in early July."
Shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, who sprained his left shoulder in a collision at second base last Wednesday, hopes to take fielding practice this weekend.

Well if Grady needs surgury, the best thing to do would be to not wait and make it worse. If they're going to do it, let them do it. I mean, it'll suck not having him playing, but whatever is best for his health is what he should do. It's not good for him or the team to try and play through it and to not be playing his best.
And yea!!!! I'm so glad that Jake Westbrook is coming back! I missed him!!! _________________ ~*Sam, a.k.a. G.L. #47*~

I'm totally bummin' about Grady being on the DL, so sad that he's hurt, but hoping and praying for the best, for his MRI! Get well soon Grady (but please don't push your recovery lol!)!!! I'm excited about Jake Westbrook too, but won't count my chickens before they're hatched, HA!

I agree with you, I'm so worried that's it's much worse than they're letting on~ praying for it not to be incredibly serious and for Grady to get better soon!!
On a GREAT note I'm super pumped to See Laffey, Lewis, Cabrera & Westbrook back out their soon. I really am praying for the best for Grady, if he needs surgery he needs it but I'm really asking GOD to keep him healthy!! I know that may sound silly, but GOD has helped me before.
Can't wait to see our FULL roster back in order. That'll be the day the ANGELS sing... FOR ME at least. _________________
I would like to think the Cleveland Clinic. If not maybe St. Vincent or Metro.. I'm guessing they'll send him somewhere in Cleveland. That would make the most sense, at least in my eyes!! _________________
Well it looks like all those prayers (including mine) have done some good! My mom just called and told me that on Ch. 3 news they said that his practice throws were good and he threw 60ft no problem. The MRI looked okay and they said they don't think he'll need surgury! Yea!!! Let's hope they're right and keep hoping and praying for him!! _________________ ~*Sam, a.k.a. G.L. #47*~

well that's good news but i'm not getting excited about it yet. we're really not gonna be able to see how he's feeling til he gets back out on the field swinging the bat regularly. i just hope in the future if he's having pain or something that he speaks up about it right away. you don't need to act macho all the time lol _________________

Sizemore could return in 7-10 daysComment Email Print Share Associated Press
CLEVELAND -- Grady Sizemore could off the disabled and back in the Cleveland Indians' lineup in seven to 10 days.
Sizemore
An MRI exam Monday on the All-Star center fielder's ailing left elbow revealed much of the inflammation that's hampered him since spring training has subsided. Arthroscopic surgery was an option.
"You hate to put a timetable on anything," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "That would probably be a best-case scenario.
"There's still something there. But it looks a lot better than the last MRI he took."
Sizemore will test the elbow with more swings and throws Tuesday, and he will be evaluated daily. No more MRI exams have been scheduled.
"There's a chance it could get worse, there's a chance it could stay the same," Sizemore said. "It's not necessarily black and white. It definitely could linger all year. It's just a matter of how much worse it gets. It had started making the muscles and ligaments around the elbow sore. We don't want to go back to that. If it goes back to that, we have to make a decision [on surgery]."
As long as it doesn't get any worse, Sizemore said he could play the rest of the season with the pain he has now. The elbow affects his throwing more than hitting, but he felt good throwing from 60 feet Monday. It was the first time he has thrown a baseball since May 24. He spent the last week before going on the disabled list as the designated hitter.
Sizemore is batting .223 with nine homers and 31 RBIs in 49 games this season.
"The key right now is to see how it feels as we go forward," Sizemore said. "It feels better than when I went on the DL. We'll step it up a little bit tomorrow, take some more swings and see how it feels from there."
In other injury news, the Indians have scratched Jake Westbrook's next rehab start, scheduled for Wednesday night, because of general soreness. Westbrook, recovering from ligament transplant surgery last summer, threw four scoreless innings Friday night for Double-A Akron.
Instead of Wednesday's start, he will throw a bullpen session.
"We expected him to see it [soreness] a lot earlier than this," Wedge said. "It's just a little soreness after his last outing. He hasn't had any setbacks at all. It's really gone very smoothly. We'll see how he is tomorrow and go from there."
