[quote="Meames"]I will not even attempt to make excuses for the ignorance of some, but suffice it to say, there are soooo many ignorant people like that the world over, and it's sad they even get air time But it makes for GREAT "news" apparently and gets all sides fired up, rightly so! McCain supporters are very frustrated that soooooo much about Obama has NOT been brought up by the mainstream media...and it's not JUST the Ayers, Rev Wright, Rezco connection. People are angry at the fact that their retirement accounts and investements and college funds have all but been wiped out by the greed and corruption of the Democrat controlled congress and the likes of ACORN, who Obama has significant ties to, by his own admission. The fact that the mainstream media won't even take him to task over this is what has everyone so daggone angry. The crowds are not booing McCain, they are booing because they are frustrated that McCain can not/will not (because of the decent man he is) throw this in Obamas face.
We should be looking at the content of a mans character in addition to where he stands on issues and it is the CHARACTER of Obama that has many people concerned.....when he has alligned himself with people such as Ayers, Wright, Farrakhan it makes one wonder where his moral compass is. As American's we have EVERY RIGHT to know where this man has come from, who he has had associations with and where he stands on issues, he's running for the Presidency of the United States for goodness sake, not just some seat on a community board.
I'm waiting this week for Obama's connection to Raila Odingo to hit the airwaves. Of course you probably won't see it in the mainstream media, and if it gets a mention it will be downplayed and dismissed as irrelavent. So in case you don't get to see it or have NO CLUE what I'm talking about, here it is.
Guilt By Association
A frequent Corsi tactic is to point to some link between Obama and various unsavory persons and to imply that Obama somehow shares in their unsavoriness. He devotes an entire chapter to violent uprisings in Kenya following a disputed presidential election in 2007. The link to Obama? During a visit to Kenya in 2006, Obama and his wife, Michelle, arranged to take an AIDS test to publicly demonstrate the test's safety. While there, Obama spoke to the assembled crowd. Raila Odinga, one of the two candidates running for president, was on the stage when Obama spoke. Corsi concludes that the event constituted an endorsement of Odinga. He goes on to attribute all the violence in Kenya to an elaborate Odinga plot.
Corsi, however, offers no evidence that Obama actually did endorse Odinga. In fact, MSNBC reported that during that same trip, Obama also met with Mwai Kibaki, who was Odinga's opponent in that election, as well as with opposition leader Uhuru Kenyatta. And Human Rights Watch reported that both Odinga and Kibaki (or their supporters, anyway) had a hand in the violence that followed the election.
Other chapters offer more of the same regarding Obama's well-known connections to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, to former Weather Underground fugitive (and now longtime professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago) William Ayers, and Obama's friend Tony Rezko, recently convicted in a celebrated corruption trial. Nowhere does Corsi demonstrate that Obama agrees with what Wright or Ayers have said or done, or that he broke any laws as Rezko did. Corsi completely ignores what Obama actually says about both Wright and Ayers. Nowhere in the book will be found Obama's March 14 statement rejecting Wright, when Obama said, "I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country," or Obama's April 16 comment on Ayers, whom he said "engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago when I was 8 years old." Nor does Corsi offer anything new connecting Obama to Rezko, a relationship we've addressed twice in earlier articles.
Attempting to discredit Obama because of an association with unsavory people rather than with actual proof that Obama shares their views is an instance of a logical fallacy that philosophers call guilt-by-association. Corsi uses the technique to fill chapters three through seven.

If indeed we are quilty by association, The Richness supports the ideals of convicted felons, mental patients, atheists, pro-abortion folks, socialism and drug use on a daily basis.

and one other thing
The current economic melt down has it roots
in the selfish, greedy, screw the middle class
ideals of Regenomics and the steady deregulation
of Wall Street. Washington could not resist the
money being offered by powerful lobbies. This
was true on both sides of the aisle.
Personally, I don't give a rats for political
parties, I want a plan. A few aspects of Obama's
plan has me optimistic for the future of America
and the possibility of reestablishing this country
as a world leader. If we put the same energy into
Energy development as we did the space program
it will result in not only energy independence but
new industries (jobs) , help for the environment, and possibly
a new sense of Unity in these United States. _________________

Tina Fey FTW, I tell ya She needs an Emmy next year for that role. My dad was imitating her making the gunshot noises
Oh and thanks for that post V. I don't know what I'd be if I had anything to do with what my associates (direct and indirect) did. My pastor did community events with Kwame Kilpatrick and at one time supported him. Does that mean that my Pastor is an adulterous liar? I don't think so.
And oh, I would love to hear why I should vote for John Mc Cain and not how much Barack Obama sucks because that just makes me want to vote for Obama more. _________________ ~Storiebon da THB Duchess~

since we are digging up past associations
During the 2000 Republican Presidential Primaries, Slate.com writer Chris Suellentrop wrote an excellent in-depth feature article about John McCain and his role in the Keating Five. This is a must read article for every American, especially for anyone who thinks John McCainis a hero.
Two Important things to know before you read the article:
1. John McCain admitted to intentionally filing false income tax returns to defraud the IRS by not claiming thousands of dollars in gifts McCain and his family received from Charles Keating and Keating’s company. Years later, when the IRS noticed Keating’s company had written off the gifts to McCain as business expenses, McCain fessed up and admitted filing false returns and made a “donation” to the U.S. Treasury to cover the amount he defrauded American tax payers. (Committing tax fraud is one of the least offensive things John McCain has done over his career, but this article just focuses on his role in the Keating Five, and the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal of the late 1980’s-early 1990’s). McCain also leaked information about the Keating Five to the press multiple times in an effort to appear above the other Senators in the scandal. A 1989 Phoenix New Times article summed it up best with their title - McCain: The Most Reprehensible of the Keating Five.
2. John McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain, along with her father, made a $359,000 investment in retail property owned by Charles Keating in 1986, a year before John McCain first met with federal regulators on behalf of Keating. Keating was later convicted on 73 counts of fraud, conspiracy, and other crimes. Years later, Cindy McCain sold her investment for $15,000,000.
For anyone not aware of the Keating Five, here’s a very simple summary:
Charles Keating owned a savings and loan in California. He was illegally using the money of his bank’s customers to give loans to himself and friends that they didn’t have to repay, and to speculate on risky real estate investments, which was strictly forbidden by U.S. law (and was one cause of the Great Depression).
When the feds found out what was going on and launched an investigation into Keating and his company, Keating called five U.S. Senators whom he had wined, dined, and lavished with hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations and personal gifts.
Keating asked the five Senators to tell the feds to bug off, and the five Senators, later known as the Keating Five, obliged, meeting with federal investigators twice and pressuring them to stop investigating Keating’s crimes. They bought Keating some time, but the feds didn’t give up and eventually Keating was nailed. The reason the feds were so persistent was because Keating wasn’t playing with mere chump change. Keating blew $3.4 billion through illegal personal loans and bad investments, and the FDIC had to reimburse Keating’s customers who had been ripped off.
(Background Info - Keating wasn’t the only Savings and Loan owner who was committing fraud, 20% of the S&L’s that failed during that three year period were found to have been caused by fraud and/or insider trading. The failure of the Lincoln Savings and Loan and other S&L’s pushed the country into a recession, costing the U.S. government $126 billion dollars in FDIC insurance payouts to investors. All of this came to a crescendo during the first year of the presidency of George H.W. Bush, who pushed through the S&L bailout plan to keep the economy afloat.)
When the involvement of the Keating Five was made public, a scandal erupted and the Senate Ethics Committee launched their own investigation into whether the Keating Five had violated Senate ethics rules. The other four Senators left office either immediately or within one term. John McCain was formally rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for exercising “poor judgment” for intervening with the federal regulators on behalf of Keating, but because McCain accepted Keating’s gifts of travel and vacations to Bahama while McCain was a member of the House of Representatives (he served one term there before moving to the Senate), the Senate claimed they had no jurisdiction to censure McCain. (However the meetings to pressure federal regulators occurred during the first few months of McCain serving in the Senate in 1987, so that excuse doesn’t hold up)
John McCain then went back to the drawing board and re-invented himself as “the Straight-Talk Express” and the media gobbled it up. “Tax-Evading-Criminal” doesn’t sound as catchy as “Straight-Shooting-War-Hero”.
Ever since the scandal, when McCain lies today, it’s never questioned, because he’s a “straight talker”. The man has more skeletons in his closet than any politician in history. The Keating Five is just one bone.
After reading the Slate article, ask yourself: if Obama or any other candidate had a scandal such as the Keating Five in their past, would the mainstream media never question it? Could any other candidate even have a political career after the Keating Five? For the other four Senators, the answer is no. And while Charles Keating went to prison for his role in the scandal, John McCain swept it under the rug and could soon be President of the United States of America.
Read the full Slate.com article here.
The FDIC also has a list of recommendations for further reading on Charles Keating and the Lincoln Savings and Loan

Oh man, I JUST heard on the radio that factcheck.org is not without bias toward Obama cuz they're owned or have ties to The Annenberg Foundation that has received MAJOR contributions from Obama and Ayers over the past years!! I am going to TRY and research this for myself, but it's getting harder and harder to know what and who to believe anymore! _________________ <a href="http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z92/mandyeames/Chris%20banners%20and%20siggys/?action=view& current=canalclubsiggy.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z92/mandyeames/Chris%20banners%20and%20siggys/canalclubsiggy .jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> |

Let me tell you what I believe
I have big love for all my Richness Sista's
regardless of political bent
HOWEVER
McCain was not "cleared"
He paid the back taxes and as it says above
This info did not come from factcheck.org
slate.com & the FDIC is the source
At any rate, factcheck.org has plenty of stuff about the Obama campaign that is has missed the mark
I only chose the items that serve my agenda ,
it is after all, the American Political Way
McCains plan does not address medical coverage for my two kids, 22 & 23.
A tax credit is no help if you are under employed or unemployed.
If the medical insurance offered to federal employess was made available to the uninsured that would help my kids, especially my baby girl who has congenital heart disease, a pre-existing condition that has effectively excluded her from getting private health insurance.
Like I said, I do have my own agenda.
The energy thing has me excited, but now I am repeating myself.
One last thing. What are we fighting for in Iraq?
Secure = Victory? Secure for what?
Is it really a good thing for us to push our Democratic Ideals down everyones throat? Can we actually do anything to stop the secterian violence? I do believe that One American dying in Iraq was One Too Many.
And I get all goose bumpy when Obama says
"We will hunt down Bin Ladin and KILL him.
I have been waiting for that since 9/11.
Almost as long as I have been waiting for HHC to drop it like it's hot. _________________

GREAT DEBATE!! Mack is BACK!!!!! He put Obama on the defensive, made him have to explain his very left wing liberal agenda for this country. The next 20 or so days will be very interesting to watch and be a part of. _________________ <a href="http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z92/mandyeames/Chris%20banners%20and%20siggys/?action=view& current=canalclubsiggy.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z92/mandyeames/Chris%20banners%20and%20siggys/canalclubsiggy .jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> |

After the debate we watched the commentary
on MSNBC and on the Fox News Channel
All I can say is
There must have been TWO DIFFERENT DEBATES!
It's really kind of funny to watch the spin on both sides.
I gues that's why we should watch & decide for ourselves
It's almost over so soon we can go back
to lamenting the state of HHC's career _________________

I watched both Fox News and CNN and I agree Ven, there must have been two different debates going on. No one saw it going the same way. People on one side thought McCain "stuck it" to Obama and another side thought Obama answered everything that came his way and clearly outlined his plan better than McCain.
Politics is definitely subjective, that we can say. _________________ ~Storiebon da THB Duchess~

Big breaking news this morning. Gen. Colin Powell just announced on a taping of "Meet The Press" that he's voting for Barak Obama. This is HUGE news for the Obama camp since Gen. Powell has worked on the administrations of both Bush presidents. Very surprising news for me because I thought that Gen. Powell would either not endorse anyone or that he would endorse John McCain.
Also, Obama raised $150M in September alone. _________________ ~Storiebon da THB Duchess~
