CHICAGO AND ST. PAUL, CANCELLED!

sorry to any of you that were at the chicago show tonight, as i left right after my set and didnt say hi and take pics etc. i have also cancelled my part of the borders instore in chicago, and also the st. paul show friday night. i walked off stage tonight and got a phone call that i had a serious family emergency. my brother was in a really bad motorcycle accident tonight, and is in critical care. i am on my way to where he is as i type. please keep him, and my family in your thoughts during this time. i will keep you posted as i know more...

Forgive my ignorance here, but is Josh's brother Will Hoge? I've looked at Will's myspace and website and don't see any mention of Josh...Josh does have a pic of he and "Will" as children on his myspace. I hope we get an update soon....they're in my prayers.

Nashville rock musician Will Hoge, 35, is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being involved in a motor scooter accident Wednesday evening.

Hoge was traveling north on Main Street in East Nashville at about 8 p.m. when a southbound van failed to yield while turning into 712 Main St., Metro Police spokesperson Kris Mumford said. Hoge’s motor scooter collided with the passenger side of the van. Police found no evidence of alcohol or drugs involved in the accident.

Ashley Hansen, editorial assistant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, reported Hoge’s family “appreciates everyone keeping Will in their thoughts and prayers.”

The driver of the van is Sibomana Viateur, 28, of Nashville. He did not suffer any injuries.

Hoge is one of Nashville’s most accomplished rock artists, having moved from a promising major-label stint in the early part of the decade into a thriving career as a hard-touring, do-it-yourself musician. His most recent album, last year’s Draw the Curtains, was his first for indie label Rykodisc, and marked his return to label affiliation.

The singer-songwriter is in the midst of recording the follow-up to that highly praised album at Sound Emporium Studios at home in Nashville. He is due to take a hometown stage at the Mercy Lounge on Sept. 20, as part of the 2008 Americana Music Festival.

Will’s Condition Upgraded to Stable...

Will's condition has been upgraded to stable after a Wednesday evening traffic accident. He suffered broken bones and contusions when his scooter was struck by another vehicle at approximately 8 p.m., Central Time Wednesday, August 20. Will was departing the Nashville studio where he is working on the follow up to 2007's Draw the Curtains for his record label, Rykodisc.

"Mr. Hoge suffered multiple injuries during the accident, however, he is progressing according to plans," said Dr. John A. Morris Jr., director of the Division of Trauma at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Will's family, management team and record label appreciate the outpouring of well-wishes from friends and fans. Will is anxious to get back in the studio and on tour, and will do so as soon as his doctors allow.

oh my! i'll keep him in my prayers...glad he is doing a little better.....i'll have to talk to my friend...she is a HUGE Will Hoge groupie!

Hey all, thanks for all the well wishes, thoughts, and prayers at this time! We need them. I havent slept now in about 3 days, but I wanted to at least try to give you a small update on my brother Will.

For those who may not really know, my brother Will was in a scooter accident, where he and a van collided. Noone is pointing fingers or anything at this time, and the details are all being sorted by police (the driver of the van was very cooperative, and gave up his van to be checked by police). No drugs or alcohol was involved by either party. Mind you I was on stage performing in Chicago when this happened, so I walked off, got the call and immediately began driving through the night the 8 hours home. All I knew was Will was in critcal care, and was in bad shape.

I want to just say that I have had relationships with girls gone bad, friendships gone bad, yada yada, that I thought "oh man, this hurts" or "what am I gonna do" etc, and I have to say that my heart has NEVER been as broken as it was seeing my brother for the 1st time last night!!! It was the most surreal moment of my life. The best news ever, is by the time I got home we found out it was not life threatening anymore, so that was great news! I dont want to go into specific details at this time, but he has pretty much broken every bone from his face all the way down to his legs. Hes got a ton of stitches on his face, and cuts all over. He was in a lot of surgery yesterday, and actually they tried to keep him upstairs until I made it home, but they took him in about 3 mins before I got to see him. The surgery went great. So as I mentioned I finally got to see him last night. It didnt last long... The door opened and I lost it before I even walked down the hall. I made it to his bed and just couldnt believe it. Those of you who may not know, I have always had the typical little brother attitude towards Will. You know where I wanted to do everything just to be like my big bro. We are super close, and he has always sort of been my hero/influence, so to see him last night just wasnt him. I couldnt stand there long, plus they were running out of kleenex. Smile

He was really sedated, but could hear and shake his head. When my sister in law told him I was there he opened an eye barely. THIS KILLED ME! I left him so he could rest and so other family and friends could see him. Today he was much better, and even talking a bit! He's tired as can be...

Will is one of the strongest (honestly most hard headed) people ever! Smile

He will recover for sure sooner than later I bet. His recovery will be a while, but he will kick its ass!!! Plus the fact that he had 5 female nurses bathing him yesterday will keep his spirits up. ha. Seriously THANK YOU all for your wishes. I will do my best to keep you updated as time goes by, but just know the hardest part is over, he's got a great/strong wife and family as a support system and Will is gonna be good over time.

Motorcycle accidents aren't pretty. Been in more than one of them, but thankfully nothing as serious as Will has gotten into. Hope he recovers soon

I'm so happy that he is making good progress. Obviously, he has a long road ahead of him, but great support from family and friends.

Will does have a long hard road to recovery ahead of him. Maybe after he recovers he will use his accident and recovery to write about. I know Will was recording a new cd, but right now recovery is the most important thing.
