Oscar winner and season 3 contestant Jennifer Hudson's mother was murdered this afternoon in Chicago along with a male. Speculation is that the male was Jennifer's brother Jason.
There is also rumor that an 8-year-old boy was taken from the scene, Jennifer's nephew Julian King (possibly for ransom). I don't know how true this is, but that's another story that's out there.
All we know right now is that Jennifer's mom Darnelle
was in fact murdered in her home in Chicago. Please keep Jennifer and her family in prayer. This was to be a happy time for Jennifer who just got engaged and who's new movie "The Secret Life of Bees" just came out.

Oh my goodness! How tragic!
Why do some in this world insist on being such horrible human beings!!???!!! I just don't get it.
She and her family will be in my thoughts!

I am still in shock at this news! After hearing it last night my heart sank with sadness, disbalief then anger that someone would do such a thing!
IT has come out that it was her mom and brother that were murdered and they have put an amber alert out on the nephew. they are looking for a person that is a suspect that was on probation and had served like 7 years in jail for some other things.
This just is so terrible! I just dont know how to even comprehend how she could be dealing with this right now.
She needs tons of love and support right now to make sure she comes out of this tragedy okay.
My prayers are with her and her family during this terrible time and I pray they find the little one okay.

When I heard the news last night it just made me sick. So senseless. I often wonder what has happened to people in today's world. Things like this didn't used to happen. So so sad. The suspect had been in prison for 7 years previously and should have stayed. My heart goes out to Jennifer and her family.

Wow, what a sad story! At the time that I started this thread, we weren't 100% sure that Jennifer's brother Jason was the other one that lost their life at Jennifer's mom's house. Now we know that it was in fact him. We also know that there is an Amber Alert out there for Jennifer's nephew, her sister Julia's son Julian King. Jennifer herself has put up $100,000 towards Julian's safe return.
They have the crazy brother-in-law in custody as of Friday. He is the one who neighbors said threatened Julia that he would kidnap Julian. The only reason why authorities can keep this Balfour guy is because he was on parole anyway, so they are keeping him due to parole violation. There is no forensic evidence as of yet that links him to the crime.
So my question is, where is Julian?! Who would take him? What if this was just some random other thing? Trust me, black folks normally don't like to steal other people's kids...kids can get on our nerves LOL (sorry for the joke, but I'm serious here). So I am VERY afraid for this little boy right now. I HOPE it's a situation like Elizabeth Smart and Julian will end up coming back home safe, but soon.

This is absolutely terrible! My heart goes out to their family. I can't even imagine the hurt and anger she feels. I hope the person who did this gets the death penalty.

How horrible.... now they have found the nephew in the SUV and sadly he is dead also. What kind of person could do this... So sad
