Man, I'm sure Chris is just being picky about the record label and management. Seriously, how could Chris S. get signed before Chris?!? I think Chris is just taking his time and being careful about who he goes with. When you have these kinds of producers behind you, you're going to get signed... it's just a matter of when. It's cool that Blake is telling the world that Chris has worked with Timbo and Danja for years... I don't think everyone knows that.
From an interview with Underground Online:
UGO: So do you keep in touch with any of the contestants or judges from AI at all?
Blake: Yeah, I keep in touch with C-Rich [Chris Richardson], he's my homie. He's working on an album, still trying to get on a record label and management. He's lucky he's friends with Danja. He's been working with Danja and Timbaland for years. A lot of people don't know about that.

Sligh had an album with his band that was on sale at Amazon. So labels were able to witness the type of artist he was.
Rich had some tracks, but I don't know if he was so quick to promote them. So I don't think execs have a clue to what his flavor is.
I think Rich is doing the right thing by using his Idol salary to record an album and shop himself that way. He's working with top-notch producers right now. Hopefully he'll have a full album by the end of the year and a label and management by the start of next year. If Chris isn't signed by February, then I'd be concerned. You don't want an entire season of Idol to go by without dropping a single. Idol is a great platform for former contestants to showcase their music. _________________ ~Hoarie & Panthoar with Secks & Gokes - August 1st and 2nd, 2009~

Storie, I have to tell you of my experience in Walmart today; the one in Great Bridge. I went to buy Blake's new CD. I was looking at the "new releases" and there was Jordin and Carrie Underwood, but no Blake. So I looked around and finally asked a sales guy where it was. He shows me and they have all his CD's in the country section! Right next to Toby Keith! I had a good laugh and told the sales guy that they needed to get Blake out of there and that his CD belonged in 'new releases'. He says, no, and he showed me the "05" on the label like it was made in 05 and I said, NO it just came out Dec. 4th and it's Blake's very first album in his life. Like did this guy just crawl out from under a rock! First they have it in the country section and then they don't know who Blake is... Geesh
So this guy walks away to help another customer and I stay so I can tell another clerk that someone needs to move Blake's CD's. So this other guy Danny walks up and I tell him they might want to move the CD's. He says something like "man, I'm just waiting for someone else to be signed", and I said who? and he's like Chris Richardson, oh yeah, I know him, I worked with him. Of course he sees my eyes light up so I ask him where he worked with him, and he said Chris was his supervisor at Hooter's when he worked there for 6 months. He said he was such a nice, laid back kind of guy. He told me he saw him about two months ago outside of the Little Caesar's Pizza at the Great Bridge Shopping Center (right next to the Dollar Tree we went to to get the bags before the concert). Anyway, Chris told him that he was talking to major labels but he was trying to find one that ... let's see how did he put it... that wouldn't take over and control everything he did. Oh he said he wanted to keep control over how the album was distributed. Something like he hadn't found anyone that would give him that freedom. He asked me if I had seen the movie "That Thing You Do" and I said yes, and he said like in that movie, Chris doesn't want that to happen to him. So then he says that if Chris can't find a major label that will work with him in that way, that an Indie lable would snatch him up in a heartbeat.
So I guess Chris has already said this pretty much so this isn't anything new but I wanted to keep talking to this guy, but a line started to form of customers wanting him to help them so I left. Oh but that sales guy, Danny said something earlier like, "Oh, Jordin got signed huh" and I'm thinking that people either don't understand how AI works or something. I tell him, um, yeah, she won so she automatically gets signed. Maybe I just expect everyone to know everything about American Idol, or at least the basic stuff... why do we look at people like they are extremely dumb when they don't speak AI-ease _________________

Oh Brenda, wish I'd been with you - what a GREAT experience and conversation. When you first said the guy that came up you was named Danny, I thought uh oh, things must be tight, The DR has taken a second job at WalMart Blake in the country section It's scary that someone in the music dept wouldn't know the latest releases!
And WHAT DID I TELL YOU? Of course Chris is working on getting WHAT HE WANTS from all of this. He is not going to sign with the first bozo that comes along, just cuz. He has the smarts and intelligence to know EXACTLY what he wants from all of this and he is NOT going to rush into anything that does not feel right to him. He's worked to hard and waited to long to just hand over his career carte blanche to some greedy record label exec. Way to go Chris!! And thanks for sharing Brenda, I need to go shopping with you Nothing exciting like that ever happens to me when I'm shopping! _________________ |

Hey Girls,
I was just at a bar for 3 hpurs with one of Chris Rich's best friends. What an absolute blast. I did not pump her for CRich info. She said she talks to Blake and Haley more than CRich but that he is talking to labels just like eveyone else says and trying to make a decision. It was awesome to sit with her and talk to her. She has known Chris since high school days. _________________

haha Mandy, yeah funny the clerk's name was Danny... I only remembered it cause it was on his nametag. You are too funny!
And GBChes you are too funny hanging out in bars with Chris' friends... I need to hook back up with you girl and hang out where you hang out! It sounds like he's just being cautious with who he signs with and that he's had offers but he's being patient like he said, so this makes me feel good. I just know we're going to hear something very positive really soon... I just feel it!
And thanks chrisrich22, I'm glad you enjoyed it! haha I mean how was anyone going to find Blake's CD with it over in the country section! _________________

OMG there's just so much to comment on in here! at Blake in the country section!!!! How the heck did that happen? And wow, Brenda, what a great conversation you had! Chris is really trying to be smart about everything. I know he'll make the right decision for him. And I am so glad he's being careful and all that. But I still want him to be signed like right now! LOL. And I can't tell you how tickled I am to think of Chris being in the same vicinity of the dollar store that we went to for the gift bags! And I am totally laughing at myself for being that tickled! And Gbches, girl! You make me wanna live in VA so badly! I gotta come back there and party it up with you sometime! _________________

Hey Girl...long time no talk to.
Funny stuff here. My theory is that Danny put Blake's CD in the country section until Chris can catch up in putting his CD out there!!!!
Well, if he knows Chris at all, then he knows that Blake is his home boy and he'll put the CDs out where everyone can see them. Just joking here--but it is interesting that he knew Chris, but didn't know anything about the final two.
On the other hand, I'm not surprised that everyone isn't hip to the AI world. Before Chris (you know, BC!), I wasn't really up on all the Idol contestants. I might have known who won and who was in the final two and maybe saw a show here and there, but I wasn't really on top of it until this season. In fact most of my friends and co-workers didn't have, and still don't have a clue about American Idol. Everyone still teases me--including my two young daughters, about being out of work and following Idol so closely during that time. They knew I'd gone over the top when I met all of you and followed Chris all the way to Virginia! One friend even calls me an "Idol Head"!
Getting back to Wal Mart though, maybe Danny had more electronic gadget knowledge and not so much musical knowledge. Wal Mart music dept. employees probably aren't as tuned into the music world as people working in actual music stores.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading about your American Idol/Wal Mart adventures. Thank you for sharing!
By the way, I am enjoying Blake's new CD. Granddaughter HAD TO HAVE IT!
It's all about Blake and The High School Musical soundtrack right now. Oh, and she likes Tatoo by Jordin.
She's 6. Not sure what that says about Blake's fan base.
I really like him, but I think he could have appealed to larger fan base if he would have considered putting songs like "Time of the Season", "I Need to Know", "Virtual Insanity" "All Mixed Up" and other fun songs he did on AI. I also loved when he did Robin Thickes "When I Get You Alone" song too. He really is versatile and to be honest, I think he might have pulled in more sales if he'd mixed it up a little more. Having said that, I think he stayed true to himself and his electronic vibe roots. Electronic music is where he wants to make his mark.
It's his decision and I admire him for that. Good for him.
I just hope he mixes it up on his second CD.
Just my two cents here, that's all. Good to see you Brenda! _________________
